I’ve never seen 100IM. However those free and fly times are legit!

100 Individual Medley. The Olympics do a 200. I think he does 400's in practice. I think he qualified for Junior Olympics but we didn't go this year. His old man didn't want to drive to N Carolina for a swim meet...... It's in Houston next year so we'll go there.

Olympics do a 400IM. Just did it yesterday. French dude won, and of course he trained/attended ASU, coincidentally where our new swim coach just came from. Bob Bowman.
And I feel you on the driving to all these meets. I had one in club and finished high school in 2023. Now she coaches and gives lessons. Making a killing for summer cash ($25-35 half hour cash) and turning down folks.
Still have another who’s a junior on the high school team.
With all these meets and volunteering I’m now the greatest timer you can find!
All for 20 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes in the water.
What I don’t like about watching the Olympics is that I know so little about most of these sports.

Ya, it's all consuming. Stupid me, I thought swimming would be good for exercise and keep my kids busy and out of trouble. Well his coach was Dana Volmers coach. She's good. Now I run a travel agency. When I was a kid, we played football and went to see Pantera at Joe's Garage among other things. We have fun with swimming. Here's one in Austin. He loves UT.
I watched kayaking on Saturday. Don't know the first thing about kayaking but hey the scenery was great.
First rule of kayaking is an easy one to remember-
Don't tip it upside down.
Stick to that and its nothing more than rowing.
Clob, I saw a few swimmers from NB at the state meet. I think they have a good club. You could get junior in there but I know, he's probably going to be playing football.... All those injuries he could avoid..... The scenery is not bad either in swimming.... Lots and lots of GF's as my boys say.
Pretty soon all females will be in full body suits.

I swim with him every day here at the house. No water wings. No ghey goggles. 7 months old yesterday and already doing a decent job of treading water on his own. Can't do it for very long then he goes under and I pull him back up. But we are getting there. Took him down to the bottom of the pool Sunday and watched him as he fought his way back to surface-- he was NOT happy about that sh!t. But like I told his mother--- "sometimes life drops you off at the bottom of the pool".
Need a video please. I am in the grandpa stage, and my 3 year old sinks to the bottom like a bag of rocks.
I'll admit..... I laughed. I did. Not a belly laugh..... but I did more than chuckle.
I know what IM is, I’ve just never seen times for the 100 so haven’t a clue how good his was. Those other times though are a AAAA grade or close to it. That’s legit and he made a name for himself for sure.
Yeah, at 12 it’s not a big deal. Although NC is a very underrated state.
At his age, most competitions are at the 100 IM distance because they are still working on form. The Junior Olympics goes up to a 200 IM. This is his best event. He won by 3 body lengths. He would have been top 4 in the 13-14 age group. Anyway, he's moving up in distance this year in all events. His older sister qualified for the Junior Olympics as well, she is fast but not as fast as he is. He plays basketball as well. We have fun.
To OZ, this is like our men's basketball team losing. Think about Lebron and Co. losing to Australia.
