Thoughts on Horny hire??

He knew of the implications? I don't doubt that. 17 women reported 19 sexual or domestic player incidents... Baylor is paying out and trying to get it all to go away.

The head of the snake was athletic director Ian McCaw, he knew and chose not to call it in (the gang rape involving 2 women and 4 players)...

Not saying he knew everything but he knew something. Being around it on game day is very different than being around it every day and being a coach is very different than being a student trainer and its vastly different than being in a spirit organization. There is no way he could have not known what was going on. Just about everyone in the building had to know that.

I won't divulge anymore than this. When I was there there were several players accused of sexual harassment. Nothing criminal, nothing physical, but several players made someone feel uncomfortable with words and request. It was never said out loud but just about everyone in the building knew all of the parties involved.
Hazing culture in some programs can be downright disgusting.

So, innuendo without anything really taking place? nothing new with knuckleheads in the locker room.

His DC, a primary confidant whom was implicated. Horny hasn't been mentioned in a damn thing other than his tweets being ridiculed.

How was he implicated? I agree that DC is a lot higher on the totem pole on the football field, but that certainly doesn't mean that same structure carries forward when covering up rapes.

His name was mentioned in the discussions with Briles as a party privy to the information when it came about, the oral report presented to the BOR was the stake for Briles and only Briles to fall on when it came to the football staff.

85 scholarship players, 10 coaches (at least according to google). 95 people (throw in some walkons, no more than 120). 4, including starters, allegedly gang raped a female soccer player. You think it wasn't talked about in the locker room? Or even bragged about? You think if a coach heard it, he didn't gossip with the other coaches? Baylor couldn't keep it secret because the team couldn't keep it secret. Horny was in the room. Is it possible he didn't know? Yes. Likely? My opinion is no freaking way.

Oh I don't disagree. I would put money on the guy we just hired as knowing just as much as Phil Bennett. I was just curious as to their rationale as far as where to draw the line on who is hirable and who isn't. I guess it's Art, baby Briles, and Bennett are the only deplorable coaches. The rest of the guys were just following orders, and it's no big deal for Texas to harbor them. Even though they all participated in the most despicable twitter campaign.

No, but with baby briles and Bennett getting jobs...........it should open the door for all of the former coaches to get jobs. Horny' primary job was getting defensive players game ready, the only thing he could have done is walk away to make the do gooders happy. As a matter of fact he was nothing more than an assistant to a position coach/coordinator with a title of assistant director of football, whether he was blind or not matters very little to those who think the entire staff should burn for it. Nine years on the job with admiration for one of the best offensive minds in the business, yeah... he went to bat for him with twitter support. So he should be black balled forever? Or, is it we're simply too good for second chances? Unfortunately I have to leave some stuff off the internet, but I know folks with ties to Horny and they busted his balls about the whole #hashtag thing.

The only coach I'd like to see sidelined in this ordeal is Art.

Lest we forget, the police were involved with this botched handoff and are just as much to blame. Who knows how many people actually reported it.

He signed a letter in support of CAB after everyone knew.

If he was running Baylor football operations for 9 years and had no idea then he isn't very competent at that job.

Guilty by association, The End. Cut and dry for some, I suppose.

That and #CAB and #Truthdontlie just a couple of months ago. But he's just sticking up for his boss even though he wasn't his boss anymore, and everybody else was doing it.

No, like I said previously. He was sticking up for one of the best offensive minds the college game has ever seen whom he worked under for 9 years and he wanted to believe in Briles regardless of outcome. I'm not dealing with a lack of judgement. Admiration for Briles lead to poor tweeting, bust his balls some more.

Dang ya'll sound like apologists!
Nah, I just don't see this hire moving the needle into the poor judgment zone like some.

I sure hope he doesn't turn into Mack's right hand man, "Old Freak Nasty". Then I'd have to eat some crow.

I'll refrain from further comment on Horny.

You do realize that women work in the building, (students and professional staff) It was bad enough that on a Tuesday during game week everyone in the building, (coaches, trainers, managers, strength coaches, and players) were required to attend a meeting. It was all very hush hush. I heard about it about an hour before I was supposed to be in there. No one would say what the meeting was about. When we get in there Mackvoic introduced some people from the University HR department and we had about an hours long meeting on sexual harassment in the workplace. The situation was never brought up, people were never named, no explanation was ever given as to why we had that meeting but we all knew why we were in there. I find this highly amusing based on what was going on with the married members of the coaching staff but it is what it is (Clob can fill in the details on that one if he is still around).

Anyways it goes back to my point about Horny had to know something. Maybe not all of the details and who but he had to know that women were reporting to the football staff that they were being raped by football players.

I'll tell you this. Baylor fans know what they look like if they see one. You guys ACT like you're against this whole rape thing but don't want Brile's to be held accountable.

Also did you come on here to see who would be a hypocrite? I have a feeling you did. I know you're pissed about BU letting Brile's go but let's say we hired the whole training (water boy/girl, tape man, contact holder, jock strap washer) staff do you think they had just as much fault as Brile's? What if we hired the field manager that cuts the grass?

At the very least Herman is getting a loyal soldier. If it weren't for Briles, Horny would have been a HS football coach. After the Baylor mess, he would have been a Jr. High PE coach, driving a school bus after school for extra $. I would expect Horny understands the favor Herman did for him. And if nothing else, Horny was loyal to a fault at Baylor. I would think he would be equally loyal to Herman. Loyalty matters.

First he wasn't supporting his boss. His boss was fired, and he had a new boss, and he was privy to the exact same information (if not more) that allowed us to conclude that Art Briles and Ken Starr and a lot of other people in that athletic department were scum.

Second the insignificance of his position is what makes it a stupid hire. It's simply not worth it. Nothing he brings to the table in a QC capacity is worth it for a program like Texas.
I'm waiting to hear how Scholz plans on boycotting the 2017 season since surely he is opposed to this hiring? He will practice what he preaches right?

In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a huge deal probably considering his position but it is amusing seeing some posters that have been very outspoken on here all of a sudden have the "aw shucks, he was just funnin' around. Besides he didn't know anything despite what he was tweeting" attitude. Quite amusing indeed.

Your darn right I did! I thought the lesson learned from the Briles fiasco was that if you know of a violent crime you report it to the police yourself. You don't wait for your boss to. You don't wait for the victim to. You do it yourself. What I'm reading on this thread is people tripping all over themselves to justify why Horny should not be held to this standard --- he's too low on "the totem pole", his job was not important.

I see OU suffering no repercussions for Mixon. I see no repercussions for Tennessee. I see a mix of people here defending the hiring of Horny. And I see BU burned to the ground (and rightfully so). Yes I am a little miffed and I will voluntarily take it upon myself to be the morality policy. No charge!

Ha. When my school becomes a safe haven for women beaters and rapists like ou and baylor, come talk to me. This doesn't come near that but I knew your feeble little bitter mind would draw that line.

edit: speaking to diadevic and ASU-$ooner troll as well

Your "like" of bell's imbecilic indictment of me above speaks volumes, okie. As have all of your past comments defending the scumbags Stoops and Mixon.

TRANSLATION: Scolz has a double standard when it comes to his team. We all got it. You have been the biggest blowhard on this issue and when it comes time for you to put your money where your mouth is, you slink off to the corner and give some mealy mouth deflection. I am not surprised in the least .

Find one instance of me defending Stoops or Mixon. And I have told you before, I am not an Okie, but do find things humorous or interesting at times. Heaven forbid I like a post made by an OU Fan...I've also liked a Baylor fans post too, can you find something to say about that? The like was based on the 2nd paragraph of Bell's post, that wasn't directly posted at you, but since you brought it up what is your response to this. I believe you were one of the biggest supporters of burning the entire city of Waco down, and now a staffer has been added to your beloved University. What say you?

What'd he do? Support his fired coach on social media? Yeah, burn him at the stake. :D

to bellmoron, Coming from a Trump supporter, your comments don't surprise me in the least. Facts, reality and common sense mean nothing to you. But lash out at me since your fans support violence against women.
