Leftovers
When you have special guests come over for dinner, how do you prepare for it? I suspect you spend a good amount of time shopping for the right ingredients, preparing the meal, cleaning your house, polishing the silverware, setting the table, and making sure everything is just right.
What about your Creator, is He a special guest worthy of your best efforts or does He get your leftovers? Do you give him the first times of the day or the last few sleepy moments? How much of your gifts/wealth and talents are devoted to Him?
We are called to give Him our best. I wish I could say I give my best every day, but I don’t. I have found however, that when I start my day with Him in mind, my day goes much better than when I don’t. And when things go wrong, I’m much better equipped to handle problems when I start my day seeking His guidance.
May we strive to give our best each day.
Malachi 1:6, Romans 12:1, 1 Corinthians 10:31
