Don't hold your breath. The only defense he had previously was the uncertainty of his involvement. That has been dismantled by these recent revelations.

I, for one, only requested that all facts be disclosed. I, for one, could not reconcile how the assistants could be kept if Briles's actions were so heinous. There were only 2 choices --- either (a) Briles was a victim of the BOR's overreaction to cover the Administration's failure to put a system in place/comply with Title IX, or (b) Briles was a worthless sack who deserved societal scorn. I chose (a), because I could not believe that the BOR, comprised of 30+ individuals who are leaders in their field, could possibly think that the assistants had no culpability and the best course of action was to keep the entire staff. I guess I was wrong in having any faith in the competency of the BOR.

In your (a), Briles isn't guilty. Wrong.
In your (b), Briles is the only one guilty. Wrong.

What I suspect happened:
  1. Prior to the PepHam report, the BoR could smell something foul. They told PepHam not to list any names, or more likely they redacted them for the public.
  2. Receiving PepHam with so many sordid details, the BoRegents then argued about how much to cut away. Some wanted to get all the cancer. Others wanted to do very little -- Ken Starr only, if possible. They settled instead on cutting away the top leaders at each level, plus a few staff. They hoped to leave any chances of 2016+ football glory in place, by keeping all the assistants and almost all the staff. They definitely didn't want to hurt ticket sales, as would happen if there were a mass defection of players and recruits. They wanted to thread the needle -- as in, trying to get a rich man into heaven. Weighing the potential glory of titles and playoff games, and the cash to pay for that stadium, versus covering up some silly old rapes, they just couldn't do the right thing.
So Briles was guilty, and so were (some or all) assistants and some staff, along with the AD McCaw and (to a small degree) Pres. Ken Starr.

The BoR just couldn't bring themselves to repeal and replace it all.

And this latest incident with the strength coach from Temple just blows my mind.

Dude--- you're in waco, not Philly. Hookers don't grow on trees in Waco. Drink some whiskey, dial up some porn and rub that sh!t out.

Minor slap on the wrist from the Big 12 that may result in nothing. Effective immediately, they withhold 25% of their revenue, although...the funds will be held in escrow pending the completion/results of the findings per the conference so maybe lose 7.5 million, maybe not.

Just kick them to the curb and invite houston in. That will piss off two camps in the state.
1. Baylor

2. Uncle Tillman who couldn't get in on merit, but will be let in by default.

I don't even know if that's a slap on the wrist. What are they expecting to uncover that's not already out there, and how is what is out there not worthy of a 7.5million penalty if not more? This seems like big 12 posturing.

To correct the record...

Since I wrote my last post, I learned from DMN and ESPN's OTL that PepHam never wrote a report. They were told to give their findings verbally. Supposedly, this was because PepHam told the BoR that it would take 6 months to deliver a written report. Regents were forbidden from taking written notes, recording it, etc. They kept it out of the meeting's minutes.

At some point, the BoR created their own written Findings of Fact report. This is the one with accusations but no names. It all became "some football coaches and staff," "multiple coaches," etc.

Conclude what you will, but it stands to reason that the BoR thought that keeping PepHam unrecorded would reduce the overall cost to Baylor (from lawsuits). The regents wanted to control the information published, and crafted the vague "Findings of Fact" with that in mind.

I agree with Clob about bringing Houston on board.

"The Board is unified in establishing a process to verify that proper institutional controls are in place and sustainable," said University of Oklahoma president and Big 12 board of directors chairman David Boren in a statement. "Effective immediately, the Conference is withholding 25 percent of Baylor's share of any future revenue distribution until the proper execution of controls is independently verified.

"By taking these actions the Board desires to ensure that the changes that were promised are actually made and that systems are in place to avoid future problems," Boren continued.

I, for one, feel much better that David Boren is holding BU accountable. If BU had followed OU's lead, we would have had the "proper institutional controls" in place and "systems" in place to "avoid future problems." You know, like redshirting Uwachu and Oakman and keeping Briles as coach. To quote Sports Illustrated, the sign of the apocalypse is upon us.

Well I'm glad Boren is going to try to get your program turned around because as it stands right now, Baylor does in fact make ISIS look like a JV team.

Comparing BU to ISIS is beyond uncool, MM. Belldozer deserves a ban for this and other trolling.

Don't be comparing anyone halfway decent to terrorists who behead, drown people in cages, try to force Christians, Jews and even other Muslims to convert to their ideology, and set up a religious police state.

And, no, Belldozer, your recent name-calling of me has nothing to do with this. (I think not, anyway; I don't come after those who attack me. This is the first time I responded to your attempt to troll me.)

Dude, I've stood up for you in the past, saying your posts were worthwhile when others were wanting to get you tossed. Lately, though, you're just trolling. Left and right. Something is up with you, man.

It's time for a ban, IMO.

It's tongue and cheek, drama queen, poking fun at Obama's idiotic reference to ISIS being the JV team. Obama is your guy and you don't like me calling him slimy and dishonest, that's the ONLY reason you're offended here. Well, I didn't happen to like the fact that he tried to leave a $200 million "tithe" to the Palestinian radicals on his last day in office. Slimy and dishonest. Some of you need to sack up and stop getting offended in this country about the dumbest crap. Besides, the comment was made about Baylor, not UT. Good grief lmao. My most sincerest apologies to Diadevic if my comment offended you.
