A friend of mine, who is not a Texas fan, asked Chat GPT to predict the outcome of the TX/Mich game using pff scores from last week. Here is a copy of what he sent me.😂

Asked ChatGPT to summarize the pff numbers in light of TX ability to win. Then had it tweak, put in some flare - thought you’d enjoy

Texas is winning this by at least two scores, unless Michigan can force a few key turnovers. Without Connor Stalions and his sign-stealing operation, Michigan’s defense looks mid at best.

Last week exposed a lot. Will Johnson, supposedly their top corner, didn’t even grade out as well as three Texas corners. And Grant and Graham? They were hyped up but both graded below 60 on PFF.

Michigan’s defense had a few bright spots, mostly thanks to their edge rushers dominating Toreon Penright, who had a 43 pass block grade in 2023. Fresno State’s right tackle, by comparison, graded around 70 last year and allowed no sacks. So the standout plays from Michigan’s defense came from guys beating up on someone who wouldn’t start at many FCS schools. For context, even Akron’s tackles graded better.

Beyond that, Michigan’s defense was unimpressive, with only two players grading above 70. Texas, on the other hand, had four defensive tackles alone who outperformed both Grant and Graham.

On offense, Michigan didn’t fare much better. Four players graded above 70, with Loveland as the standout. He’s good, but he’s not going to win a game by himself.

Texas, on the other hand, looks solid. Last week, they had 10 defensive players and 13 offensive players graded at 70 or better.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Will Johnson and Michigan’s two defensive tackles—Grant and Graham—played significantly worse than they did in almost any game last season. One of them having a bad game might make sense. Two would be strange, but possible. But for all three of their “star” players to drop off this much? That’s incredibly improbable. Unless, of course, there’s an explanation—like they were only that good last year because they were cheating.

All signs point to the latter.

Bottom line—Michigan’s offense and defense both fall short of Texas’. Texas is likely to handle them without much trouble.
