Rivals250 CB Jamier Johnson is scheduled to announce his decision on Friday. Technically, Johnson has a final seven but I've been told several schools are out of the race and it's really only Texas, Colorado and Arizona State that are being considered.
Johnson's a tough one to read because he never really talks and hasn't even kept people close to him in the loop on his decision. In checking around last night and today, I was able to pick up a couple nuggets. A couple different sources indicated Texas looks good in this one, but I do not believe Johnson has directly told people at UT that the Longhorns are going to be the choice. Regardless, there's confidence in Austin.
Interestingly, I was told last night that Colorado also had some confidence. The way it was described to me, Johnson was giving the CU staff some positive vibes, but even the CU coaches didn't know what they should believe.
I put what I'd call a "cautious" FutureCast pick in for Texas based on a couple things I heard today, but I do think there's still a chance this one could have some late movement. And if Texas is the choice on Friday, this feels like one UT may have to continue to recruit aggressively being that Johnson's an out-of-state kid who has not even visited Texas yet.
