1969. Arkansas. Watching a tv at a bar on Rio Grande just south of 24th. During the winning drive one fan kept yelling "James Street is Jesus!" After the game, the mob stopped traffic on Guadalupe from 19th to at least 32nd street until 3 or later.

94. My brother is a year older and he was in the Longhorn Band. We went up to see the UH game on parents weekend. My parents didn't know much about football so they got seats on the second row. Had to stand on the bleachers the whole time in order to see over the players.

1970 vs UCLA.

20 seconds to go we were down 17 to 13 and itlooked like we were going to lose. Truth of the matter was were outplayed most of the game. But of of nowhere Eddie Phillips completes a pass to Cotton Speyer who cuts upfield for a 60 yard td and Texas wins 20-17. I was in the stands that day and UT fans who are such a sit on your hands fans threw seat cushions in the air. We went on to win a Co NC that year.

I listened to that on the radio. Unbelievable, and kept the winning streak alive. How big was the stadium then? Sounded like a million people to my 10 year old ears.

I remember that everyone was leaving the stadium cause they had thought Texas had lost and then there was a Tremendous roar and everyone came running back in and was shocked that Texas had won, one of my good memories that make me think Texas can win at anytime and never give up on the Horns...!

Am I the only one wondering if this is about favorite team or favorite game? Lol. Anyway my favorite game that witnessed in person was 1991 Houston at Texas. Epic unexpected ass whoopin and thorough domination of that run n shoot. Atmosphere was as electric as Ricky's record game against aggy, and I was at that one too.

1902, Texas shut out the Aggies for the 8th straight time. This was before the Nazi party, but long after sheep were domesticated. Seems like yesterday.

Looking back from that era, that was when Darrell Royal and longhorn fb were at their peak. We were in the middle of period where we won 6 straight SWC championships. The were a lot of games back then, some games against SMU and TT stand out, where we should have lost but won. Teams that had dynasties won games like this and I'm glad I was old enough to witness it.

You know looking back games like that stand out as much as the other games it wasn't just ND, OK, AR, and Navy.

You ain't kidding, back then everyone wanted our butts, I always liked Rice, especially their band, ever since that night in Austin for our 100th, they played the Eyes of texas with the longhorn together and always put on a good halftime show

Would have been '57 (at the State Fair) but dad too cheap to pay scalper ticket prices. So watched on TV at the fair.

First live game in '66. God Bless Bobby Warmack. 8 years of pain finally relieved.

I grew up a texas tech fan. Grew up hating UT as most tech fans do. I chose to go to UT over tech due to the education and degree I was seeking was better than what tech had to offer. As a freshman in 1988, I attended my first home game. I believe it was against New Mexico. I couldn't root for UT because it was not in me. I attended subsequent home games, but mainly because I was in a frat, and that is what you did, plus it's football. But it was the tech game in Lubbock that same year, that I changed the color of my blood to Burnt Orange. My friends from high school were at tech. My family mostly went to tech. So I went "home" (I'm from Amarillo) to see my family and friends at the game. I told them I would be neutral, but as we played the game, and lost, my friends and family rubbed it in and rubbed it in and rubbed it in. That's when I started watching as a fan. I have never looked back.

Rice is a team I could never hate....for a few reasons.....1. They usually have a lot of class. 2. Band is awesome 3. A friend of mine played there. He was a Sr in high school when I was a Fr and he taught me a LOT about playing football, technique especially...would show me after practice. I won't give his whole name but his last name was Jackson.

FB- It's amazing to see 3 players from Corpus on that roster. Times have changed for the Corpus area to UT

Well, for Flour Bluff it has , we lose a lotta kids that are good cause their Dads or Moms in the Navy and get transferred, The only one I guess that made it to the show was "clob" he was a good solid player at a Inferior school across town that had a lotta pussies on it that always paid the Ref's before each game that Flour Bluff was Mortal Enemies with, but he showed his shit every game and did good..there has been a few others that I can't remember, I think Alice had a few and so on..seems like last yr clob told me how small the players were down here and he was right..back in his day we had some Big'uns down here..

1977 - I was 9 years old, my family had moved into a new house out in Universal City TX. Up until then I never played sports, all the kids in my old neighborhood would just go to the local park and play, no one played sports. But in this neighborhood the kids played soccer, basketball, and of course football.

I was drawn to football because my family always gathered around the TV to watch it every Saturday and Sunday. Sunday was always about the Cowboys, but Saturday was about the Longhorns. Up until that point every member of my family on my mother's side that went to college had attended The University of Texas. To go anywhere else was blasphemy, if you chose to go anywhere else it would have to be Ivy League. I had one uncle that couldn't get into Texas so he joined the Air Force and never attended college.

With all that said, it was the entire 1977 season that got me into watching the Longhorns, but mostly it was Earl Campbell. The only game I really remember from that year was the Cotton Bowl and how Notre Dame just completely dominated, I was in tears.

After that season I was still more of an Earl Campbell fan so I became nothing but a Houston Oilers fan until 1982 when Kennith Simms was destroying everyone. Then I was back to watching Texas. Then came the 1983 season and from that time forward, I was nothing but a Texas fan.

I will say that if there was really one game it was the 1984 Red River shootout. My very first time seeing this game live. 1 vs 2, it was the game of the year. And it ended in a tie, the gooners on this board would probably argue that they were jobbed, but the truth is Texas was getting jobbed the whole damn game. For them to argue that that one last play cost them the game is BS. I admit it was a bad call, but there were so many bad call going against Texas in that game, we were beside ourselves.

Probably the most memorable part of this game was we were going to our hotel and driving by Market street and we drove right by a riot as there was a big fight going on between Longhorn fans and gooners, must have been over 100 guys out there throwing fists. I probably talked about that fight longer than I talked about the game.

Good memories.

The Dallas Police never forgot it either filling their jails to standing room only and then the next yrs it seem to fizzle out, people throwing beer bottles from their hotel balcony's and shit, it was a wild time Son!

My grandfather played for Rice so it has always been hard to root against them, in a way. I want to beat them, but when they won they baseball world series, I was proud of them for my grandfather.

I grew up in Corpus and played for West Oso many moons ago. Carrol, G-P and Calallen were the major players in Corpus also Refugio and Sinton were power teams as well. Corpus schools in general are not traditional sport school compared to your Dallas, Houston, Austin or SA schools. FB always have had good teams but like you said being a navy area school, kids leave.

A West Oso Honey Bear eh? Well, it get worst as they have a new HS over around Cimmaron and Yorktown are called Veterans Memorial and they are getting players from other schools to fill their needs as well as Students, Ya can't compare sports from Austin to here, CC is still a small town by some comparrision, but, No one in the nation has beaten FB's Navy ROTC program as its been Natty Champs a long time
