I'd rather take a shot at a coordinator from the NFL or a guy like Whittingham from Utah or Campbell from ISU. Hell throw a 5 million dollar contract at Brian Kelly, he has done a good job at Notre Dame, and I'd love to stick it to their lame asses.
Tom Herman would be a beloved coach at UT if not for his sucking at being a coach.....
It's rumor. I think the BMD's are aligned but nothing looks good outside of UM. They are vetting guys but nothing yet.
Imagine how awesome Sark would be on 6th street. Talk about naked bongo playing, he would put drunk Matthew Mcconaugheyto shame.
The guy had a problem and from all accounts has atoned and now adding value at a program that ONLY accepts people who add value to the process. YET - we judge the guy like we are perfect. I totally respect the fact he has risen above the idiots throwing shade his way. It can’t be easy. I like him and respect him.
I'm glad he's on the wagon as well. But stress can cause people with inhibition/addiction problems to do irrational things.
Would you hire a recovered meth addict? How about a sex addict who cheats on his wife constantly? Where do you draw the line?
Glad Sark has his demons under control. But..... I don't understand why everyone is so impressed with what he has done at Alabama the last 2 years. Who couldn't coach these guys?

I agree, but I wouldn’t hire him because he has a decent body of work for which to evaluate at Washington and USC. Neither is impressive, just average. I think anybody that works under Saban is assumed to now understand his system. Saban basically revived Kiffin’s career. Talk about a worthless recycled coach, that is Kiffin.
Saban is the Belichick of college football, with Smart as the exception.

I have no idea, but judging by how CDC has hired women’s basketball and softball, he isn’t a gambler. He seems to like a proven resume. This is probably why he hung on to Herman. Anybody on the table would be a lateral hire compared to TH.
Well let's take a quick look at Belichick last coordinator that took a head coaching job Matt Patricia (13-29-1) fired after Thanksgiving this year.
That was my point Robo...both have great jobs individually coaching, but for the great majority, their assistant coaches have not done well.
So there is no stress at Alabama? Saban doesn’t push his coaches and demand excellence. Press covering Alabama didn’t asked him stressful questions about past issues? Ive seen Saban chewing out his coaches when he is up by 40 points.
As far as where do I draw the line - as always its with the individual and do not group every person who has had problems with everyone on the planet who may have had something remotely similar. All I know about Sark is a few public incidents, that does not give me the right or insight to judge him. And I do have people who are recovering alcoholics working for me and they are doing TERRIFIC and I support them all i can.
It's one thing to have a recoveing addict working for you, it's another to have them running the show. I would never consider Sark. Too many guys with proven track record available. Whittingham, Campbell, maybe a Brian Kelly, or someone from the NFL.
Sure there is stress and pressure at Bama. But to equate being a coordinator at Bama vs being the head dog in Austin is the difference between a hot tub bath and a crawfish boil.
Unfortunately when hiring a coach, part of the process is passing judgement. The people that hire or do not hire him will do so after they pass judgement on his abilities vs his potential draw backs.
In this instance-- if we look at other coaches with known substance abuse problems-- the list of them that have risen above it vs those that have not, is not impressive. Remember the multiple drunk videos of Sumlin? He's not working out well. What about Kiffin and his problems? Sure he looked good at Bama and has stayed quiet at Ole Miss thus far--- but it's been a loooooooooong road for him and he hasn't fully made amends yet. How about Mike Price? Or Bobby Petrino? All their issues cleared up for good?
I'm saying the risk, at this point, is still too significant to hire Sark. And while I do not judge HIM as a person, we all, including those hiring him, will be judging his character. Like it or not.
Must be nice to be able to judge someone without knowing them or their whole story. Pretty much sums up 2020 in judging a whole person based on one aspect.

Whether you want to believe it or not, when a person is hired to do a job-- I assume you have a job-- you are hired based on your merit.
If you don't see that, then you don't understand how pretty much everything works--- with the exception of social justice.
I think you are missing his point. Risk being one of the main points. "judging someone without knowing them or their whole story". That is the point. Everybody knows the story and it is directly relevant. He had a premier high profile job already and the nation saw how Sark performed and handled it. He received a shot a tiny percentage of the coaching community will ever get. The judgement is not personal, it is risk related and properly placed before handing off the keys to something that involve hundreds of thousands of people.
I think we will see some movement on this in the coming months. I think CDC will make a move when football is over and he can do some quality interviews.

I love SAM, but he has had his 4 years. Time to move on to another QB.
I get the sense that most HC jobs in the country are easier than working for Nick Saban
