Says rumors of death penalty rampant among players and new coach not very cool to current players seems he wants to clean house of Briles boys.

The NCAA has made it clear they aren't going into the Baylor waters. Any death penalty talk or rumor mongering is pointless.

Another thread hijacked by Baylor talk.

Let me help you out here. To avoid confusion in the future......If the topic is about Baylor and the talk is about Baylor then the thread is NOT hijacked. If the topic is about anything else, ..oh say...Texas recruiting..and you start talking about Baylor then the thread is hijacked. Read this again to help with figuring this out.

Uh, check the Herman thread. I didn't initiate talk about Baylor. Some of you guys sure seem obsessed with the Bears - there are now more threads about Baylor than A&M..

I've said it before and I'll say it again: take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

I never even implied that you initiated the Baylor talk in the Herman thread. What I did imply was that you were the one to make the snide comment about hijacking threads to a Baylor discussion in this Baylor thread.

Nobody. The NCAA is also not even considering a Baylor punishment much less the death penalty. OP is just rumormongering.

Not only will Smith be transferring he will probably end up at Oregon. If he stays at Baylor I will never post on here again. Just remember you heard it here first. This info came straight from a current player on the team and I said the death penalty rumors was among the players.

You are literally the only person throwing out a ZS transfer. That kind of information simply does not stay under wraps. As for the rest why would any Baylor players fear a death penalty? It's not even on the table as an option. I'll play the field and just say your full of it.

We shall see no reason to be ugly just came from a good source . Probably waiting on answer from Oregon.

Well, allegedly the Texas Rangers have launched an investigation into baylor. Those boys don't play....

Ooooohhh! Impressive promise, considering this ID of yours has only 14 messages so far.

C'mon oldHorn, diadevic made a funny. Gotta salute a good joke.

Texas Rangers involved Hmmmmm wonder why players are worried and talking about transferring ahhh probably nothing serious huh??? I imagine it's just rumors right? Wait and see!

I'll be here to eat crow, but don't think the Texas Rangers changes much. They aren't going in to look for NCAA violations. Zach Smith transferring or thinking about transferring to a point that he's already contacted Oregon is news that simply can't be kept under wraps, and apparently you are the only person your sources told this information to.

But @bubba2023 ---- IF the Rangers uncover criminal activities that the athletic dept was involved in, it forces the ncaa into action. It provides a mandate for the ncaa.

The NCAA has already said they aren't going to address criminal matters. Now if they uncover payments and stuff like that sure, but I don't think that's really what the Rangers are there to do.

My guess is they are they to investigate the police handling of these cases, and or making sure everything is up to snuff for the future. The Rangers aren't there to investigate Title IX compliance issues.

Unless something new comes out that falls under the NCAA umbrella (like paying players) they are literally going to do nothing. If the Rangers find out that Briles is the one who killed 5 hookers and not Craig James the NCAA isn't doing anything about it. They are leaving all criminal issues to the respective criminal agencies and the legal system.

The Rangers will not even look at NCAA violations. What they investigate is corruption. They will be looking at whether these Rape "claims" have validity.....when they determine there is evidence that assaults did in fact happen, they will then go about the business of uncovering why these were never prosecuted. .... The Baylor AD is WAY less shaking in his boots right now than is the Baylor Administration....and the Waco police department....and the city and county DA office.

Once the Rangers are in, they are in.....sort of like a nuclear ICBM....there aint no calling em back.

I have seen guys after the Rangers have "interviewed " them They all looked the same.....sort of ashy white, have that 100 yd stare and move sort of Zombie like.

The Rangers may not be looking for NCAA violations but in the course of their investigation things could come out that cause the NCAA to relook at things.

If the Rangers lead everyone in the Baylor Administration out in cuffs, there might not be a Baylor left for the NCAA to investigate.

Seriously, yes the Rangers investigation might uncover stuff that the NCAA would normally investigate. I have no idea what they will or will not uncover.

Yep. A lot of times in investigations like this you end up finding things you weren't looking for. Just as an example Ken Starr wasn't originally investigating sex in the Oval Office lol

That is probably the way I looked the day I was stopped by "The Old Ranger." I was less than 19 years old. I had always hated people hollaring out the windows of my car at people we did not know. This one particular friend had always done it and I would always tell him, "Jerry, one of these days you are going to do that and get us all shot."

We were driving along in Ft Worth. I had spent the summer working on the Pipeline in Mississippi after graduating High School and had come home once more to Grapevine. Anyway, this big old gunmetal grey '57 Cadillac kept getting in the way as if the grey haired gentleman driving it was impaired. When I finally got by him in traffic, Jerry hollered out the window, ' If you can't drive that gun boat, why don't you park it, you old sonufabitch!"

The gunboat whipped in behind me and all of a sudden, red and blue lights started winking through that Cadillac grill. I said, "Damn it, Jerry...what have I always told you about that! Now you've called John Law onto me hollaring out my window." I pulled over and the Caddy pulled in behind. I watched him in the mirror, and I watched him get out, put his Stetson on. He wore Riding heel boots, not Goat Ropers. If I had to describe him now, he would look like Clint Eastwood with about 25-30 more pounds on his upper body, all muscle. I guess I should actually say Eastwood reminded me of a really skinny younger "Old Ranger" when I saw him in the movies years later.

He had a vest on and I saw the Ranger Star on it. The wind whipped it open and I saw a .45 Colt handle in a holster under his left armpit. He ordered,
"Mr. Driver, exit the vehicle." I did and he looked at my ID, etc etc. He said, "I'm going to drive along behind you so I won't be in your way for a while, but I advise you not to drive too slow ...or drive too fast... or too far to the right nor too far to the left while I am watching." He was standing close enough that I smelled Whiskey on his breath and Bay Rum on his jaw. "Mr. Driver, get back in your vehicle and grab that steering wheel at 10 and 2." " Yes sir." I was thinking... When that guy started Rangering, quite a bit of it was on horseback.

He walked around my car and said, " Mr. Passenger, exit the vehicle." he got and checked out Jerry's stuff. Then he said something I have always remembered.

"Mr. Passenger, times are a changin'. Folks are losing their gentility and respectfulness in all directions. My my. Some people think they have a right to just say anything that pops into their heads to anyone. Very soon, it might well be safer to have that attitude...but I must warn you there are still a few men walking amongst you that think when you call them a sonufabitch you are insulting the reputation of their Mommie AND their manhood if they do not correct you about her. I have known men who would kill you where you stand for that. Mr Passenger, get back in the vehicle."

He turned to me and said, "You may go now."

It was probably just a few blocks, but it seemed to me like he followed us for 10 miles... and then turned off.

What had really scared me was the smell of Whiskey on his breath.

I took The Old Ranger's advice and did not start to cuss Jerry out. I just looked at Jerry and said, " We won't be in the same car much anymore, Jerry...but if we are ever in MY car again and you hollar out the window at somebody again, you'll need to be able to whip me."

Thanks for that Fred. The old Rangers were a special breed. They all used a Big Silver Peso coin to have their stars made , and they all carried .45 1911 pistols. You were lucky to have met one of those guys.
