So everybody is paying him? Those kids have visited a lot of schools, some multiple times. I assume it is some kind of bagman and not the schools/coaches, if you are right about the payments. Pretty smart, not like another school will turn him in, when they got a visit too.
The sad thing is, that most of these trainers probably have the best interest of the kid and the families they are helping at heart and aren't looking to make extra money from bagmen. Its the ones that are slimy that are trying to turn football into AAU basketball
Does tutoring work? My oldest daughter was a National Merit finalist. She got free tuition at UT until she managed to drop her GPA after 2 years. They get a free ride at OU and UTDallas, that's how OU tries to apppear academic.
It has helped with her ACT scores for sure, but we have some time before we know if it actually pay$ off (she just turned 16). The smaller schools will give you a full ride with decent scores, but the big schools are not so generous. It looks like she can go where she wants if I pay for it, or some small time school if they pay for it. I have a feeling this will end up costing me more than if we had done nothing.
One thing that seems sure to me is that ACT scores mean way more than grades. You can have a 4. whatever with AP classes, but it seems to all come down to ACT scores and demographics. I think being female might help a bit, or at least I hope so as my youngest is a girl too. We might have to pull an Elizabeth Warren.
Grades have been inflated by the teachers at the parents' behest. Most common grade today is an A. It's like giving everybody money, now it's worthless. We still need to sort students, so standardized tests are all that's left. Unless you get some sort of ethnic preference. I have 2 friends, they were both PBK @ Rice. Their oldest boy was NM. They were told by Rice that there was only 1 spot his year for a white boy from the valley. He got it.

What about Jake Smith? How is the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year not a 5 star?
Speculation that some big news for this recruiting class coming tomorrow. Lots of chatter that perhaps Bru may switch to Longhorns on HornsSports.

I just noticed they gave Jordan a 5th star which was MUCH needed!
My understanding is that the only reason he's not is that he was injured during the all star game season and wasn't able to show out vs the other top kids. No matter.
I've heard that if he's released from his LOI then yes it will count. If he has to transfer later then no. I also heard today that USC did release him from his LOI, so that's good news and should mean he doesn't have to sit out a year and he counts toward this class. We will see
With the two kid’s recent bumps to 5-stars and the addition of McCoy, seems like the class could jump up a few spots huh?

I wouldn't be that hard on him. The only supporting evidence of the $9.95 rumors on this was the lack of denials by USC or the McCoy family.
The aggys are losing their minds over Texas’ recruiting rankings. Loogie has even gone public with a conspiracy theory.
After Texas’ curbstomp of Georgia and top 10 finish dropping a turd on them, now they don’t even have a better recruiting class. It’s killing them, they can’t take it.
I don't know why it's so hard for aggies to understand that it's not whether they finish ahead of TX in recruiting rankings that matter. We don't even play each other anymore and they still can't understand that. What they should be asking themselves is do we have a good enough class to beat Alabama? But I gotta admit it's fun watching themselves complain about something so useless.
Well they won’t win a title of any sort and they refuse to play us on the field so puffing their sizzle chests out is all they had. And now we’ve taken that from them.

We won 10 games and beat up the SEC's #2 team in the Sugar Bowl in the process. Recruiting rankings is all they have left for their claims of superiority.
I noticed that. The 247’s ranking still show Owens as a 4*, even though they’ve run the story about him getting bumped to 5*
the 247 composit has Owens listed as 4 star, but the 247 ranking has him at 5 star. The composit includes rivals nd one other. Even so, the 247 bump increases the composit score......thats what got us up to # 5
247 made him a five-star in their own rankings, but that wasn't enough to move him up in the composite since ESPN's garbage rankings don't even have him in the top 300.
