Now that we're through NSD1, I figured it was time to start with a too-early depth chart projection for 2021. This first one will be on defense, and I'll have an offensive version early next week. It reflects the new (and expected, in the case of Ibraheem) signees as well as known defections and opt-outs at this time. If we're sure of anything, it's that this projection is likely to change, and as we get into the offseason, I anticipate getting back to the bi-monthly updates to the depth chart projections, switching from offense to defense from week to week as news comes in and as a place for general depth chart discussion.

For this version, I've used information gathered through the Deep Dig about 2020 player usage and what it would indicate for the future as well as notes from the OB staff and others around the program. There are likely a couple of players slotted in spots that you find surprising, and honestly, I've received information since starting this initial process that I personally found surprising as well. Please remember that an OR between players means that this projects as an unsettled situation between said players, and the order with which the names are written doesn't matter. Hopefully, these projections can help in identifying areas of opportunity on the roster where the staff should be focusing remaining recruiting efforts and transfer additions, etc, through the rest of winter heading into spring ball.

On defense, here's the first crack at a way-too-early 2021 initial depth chart for fall camp, you can click the image to enlarge:
