I'm going to get flamed on, I get it, that's how OB works.

Ewers is getting too much blame for poor play, if he deserves criticism, it should be poor preparation/lack of situational awareness - that's half on him, and half on the coaching staff. The fumble and the safety truly terrible plays, no two ways about it. If you want to place blame, a major contributing factor was the OL performance. I'll be interested to see how they score out in the deep dig this week @DustinMcComas when Ewers was dropping back to throw he barely had any time assuming they could avoid getting a flag from the refs.

Defense and RBs really impressive performances.

Flame away OB, flame away.

I thought outside of the fumble yesterday Quinn looked really good. He was 12/16 and made some really good throws in the intermediate game. The one nobody will remember was the one to Whittington that went for a big gain only to have Whittington fumble the ball.

Quinn played fine over all. It’s just the safety and the fumble those are things that can’t happen. I think Quinn will take big strides in the off-season, and I think Sark and staff will work hard to give him more weapons. Also think the OL will be better with another offseason.

This is going to be the first time in probably a decade we’ve had largely the same coaching staff in place going in to a 3rd season. That will pay dividends imo.

Actually Ewers out yardaged the Baylor QB.

Ewers is recovering from a condition known as Overinflatous Cranius.
Its a common affliction seen in freshman starting QBs who have some success early in their career.
They begin believing that they can score just as easily and throw for as many yards as they did in high school. Symptoms begin usually after an early blowout to an inferior team but can be exasperated after a blow out win to a highly regarded rival.
Usually the patient begins losing attention span during film sessions and relies solely on their talent to scrape by.
At some point these symptoms become not only noticeable by other teammates, but also contagious.

Once a proper diagnosis is made, symptoms will persist for a few more weeks, or until the patient is able to completely remove the cranial nerves from the rectal cavity.

@clob94 is it possible for team mates and/or coaching staff to stage an intervention? Is it advisable? Also are there any procedures that can mitigate the continued symptoms of cranial/rectal inversion?

Interventions are encouraged but should only be conducted by fully inoculated individuals as this contagion is highly communicable and immunoresistant.

Ewers is not a leader.

Time will tell if he becomes one.

Doubt is a mighty tough foe....Quinn came out looking like all the clippings said he would. At Bama he was great till he got blasted. A bit of doubt may have crept in, but the OU game let him put it aside. ISU let that doubt come back.

Doubt is that thing that's let's you practice like a champ, but falter in games. Darts, golf, tennis, any sport. We have all been there. The good ones conquer it, the all so rans do not. If he is the former we will be fine.

Just from my social media perusings-- I've come to the conclusion that Quinn needs to spend a little less time on his "brand" and a little more time in the film room.

How many kids come in as true leaders their freshman year? I’d guess not many at all. Did you not see him yelling at DJ Campbell in that Baylor game after he gave up the sack? That’s at least showing signs of trying to be a leader.

The Quinn slander is a little too much around here for me. Too many armchair QBs on this board who have more than likely never played a snap of collegiate football in their lives.

Major Applewhite, Colt McCoy, and Vince Young were gamers The first time they set foot on the field.

You better go check Vince’s numbers his freshman year. You have amnesia. Colt had a great freshman year but turned the ball over 22 times his sophomore year. None of those guys were instant leaders the second they stepped foot on the field. Major’s career completion percentage was 57% and his passer rating was only a 136. As a matter of fact I would say Major regressed from his freshman to junior year. Quinn’s rating was a 131 this year. So not far off of Major’s career passer rating.

And all 3 of those guys had the benefit of having elite defenses and really good offensive lines the day they stepped foot on campus. Quinn hasn’t had that luxury. We had 4 underclassmen playing on the offensive line this year and they were extremely inconsistent.

Playing young QBs with an inexperienced offensive line was always going to be a bumpy road.
