He probably didn't care if we won that crap game. It shows how bad we are. You would be surprised how many Aggies think we are ultra talented and just need a good coach. We need both. I think we have a good coach now, but we damned sure don't have the players to win big. Hopefully the masses see that, but I doubt it. Fisher knows he doesn't have the players now. The question is will he in 3 years?
He was looking for a place with near unlimited resources that is willing to spend and access to recruits. If he can manage the boosters and expectations, he will be fine. Giving up 600+ yards to WF should help with expectations, but it probably won't.
He had 2 of those 3 requirements at FSU (willing to spend and access to top notch recruits) and yet he still managed a record over the last 3 years that was almost identical to Sumlin's.
For Fisher it was about control. Plain and simple. FSU yanked their counter offer to Aggy when he waltzed in and demaned the AD and the head of the boosters be fired. He had burned enough bridges over the last few years where FSU had enough. The dude is a Napoleonic control freak and he wanted Saban like control at FSU. Two issues there. One, he ain't Nick Saban. Two, FSU doesn't have unlimited resources. FSU gave him everything he had ever asked for but he was such an insufferable prick and control freak that the admin had had enough.
The "facilities" and "unlimited resources" mantras are bullshit. Oregon has the best facilities in the country and they've never won jackshit. Aggy has top 5 facilities and haven't won a national title since Hitler was on a ballot.
I was convinced you believed every word of it. I really liked the part where he told his boss he needed a huge raise, and by the way you are fired and that other guy is fired too. I pictured Trump in my mind at the end of an apprentice episode. Riveting details like that always make the story more fun for the reader. Good job.
Sorry you don't like it but it did happen. He marched into the University presidents office and demanded the AD and Booster president get canned. He always dealt with John Thrasher because he had a power play issue with the AD.
