I'm the world's worst at predicting players value at the next level.Mayfield *might* be the sixth or seventh QB taken in the draft this year. I'll be surprised is he's taken in the first or second round.

yes,I heard from a source that Baker and his dad were so arrogant and cocky out of Lake Travis high school that no college wanted to deal with them.He must be Baker's dad. They act the same.
I'm not sure about that. I've posted on here that I work with a kid that played on his same team in hs and knows his family personally and he never mentioned anything like that and this kid went to Tech too.yes,I heard from a source that Baker and his dad were so arrogant and cocky out of Lake Travis high school that no college wanted to deal with them.
I heard a different story but seems logical since no school in the state made an offer coming out of a 6A powerhouse school in this state. Its not like college coaches never recruited players from Lake Travis.I'm not sure about that. One of the rankings has him as the 4th QB in the draft behind Rosen, kid from USC, and the kid from Wyoming. Probably makes him a 2-3 rd pickSo are a lot of NFL GMs. I seriously doubt he slips beyond the 2nd
Haha I gotta give it to Mayfield, if this football deal doesn’t work out he’s got a career in acting waiting for him. Not sure if anyone else noticed but during this whole video his crotch grabbing hand only made a brief appearance one time. I think he was crotch grabbing during this presser. WVU in for a bad time once the Sooners second offensive series commences.
Well to date I have not ever heard one remark out of his dad during his whole time at OU or Tech? Perhaps I’m out of the loop but if it was as you say, seems his dad would be running his mouth, complaining, being quoted or something. We did hear those sentiments about Bomar and his dad but he had plenty of offers out of hs so...

Very stupid comment. Baker went up against, what was stated at the time to be the best, the Ohio State D.The problem with BM is that he plays in the B12, a conference mostly devoid of defense. He’s had the luxury of playing like 5 years without ever having his sh_t kicked in. Tends to perpetuate punk-ish behavior.
I sure liked your list of players to match mine that proved you wrong. You made something up, because your rival owns you and you're emotional, and you got caught. Our former coach...you know, Bob...you remember him, he was voted (by other coaches) to be the HC most likely to send their own son to if they had to choose. Could it be perhaps your view is slanted because OU dominates this conference like the 20's Yankees? Nah...couldn't be that.
Didn’t you see Mayfield’s tears?I'm glad that we're in agreement that this is just another example of ou giving the appearance of punishing a kid, while not really imposing a punishment at all.
Didn’t you see Mayfield’s tears?
I thought you said he was acting.
Again I’ve never heard one remark out of his dad. I’m not sure what went on between Patterson and Mayfield and his dad but I have a hard time believing he could be worse than Foreman’s dad and both his sons had scholarship offers. I suppose Mayfields perceived lack of talent at the time combined with a possible issue with his dad being too involved could have turned teams off but I certainly wasn’t there to know and his dad hasn’t caused any issues that I’m aware of. Regardless, there are a lot of teams that Mayfield has made look foolish right now, that’s really the bottom line.
Well true but he was trying to cry he just couldn’t get the tears to come outI didn't see tears just a bunch of sniffling. He's a good actor though.
? Bomar was absolutely considered cocky what are you talking about? Not only that he was a crappy overrated qb. I’m certainly not going to sit here and defend him. Google his dad and see what the folks in his district think about him and his son, with Jerry being the AD and fb coach. That should tell you all you need to know. Apparently Rhett Bomar is also the AD and football coach in Freer now. What do you know about Bomar and his dad? Bomar dad was actually the athletic director so in no way was his father going to act cocky or mouth off and Bomar wasn't cocky in high school he had a lot of haters in high school from around the area. Even with Bomar as the best qb in the state that year he never once made playoffs in high school only in baseball.

So, the folks in Jerry Bomar’s district are just making this stuff up? Here’s an idea Tonto, why don’t you take a poll right here on this board with a choice being: was Bomar an overrated arrogant meathead or not? There is a reason Horn fans enjoyed seeing him Bomar’d and it wasn’t because he didn’t go to Texas. Good grief I should have known you were a millennial by now.Oh so you going to believe everything you read on the internet? I went to high school with him and played right beside him on the baseball diamond so you going to try to tell me about crap you read on the internet. Bomar was going to come to Texas but Mack Brown didn't get off his ass and come to Grand Prairie and blowu brought the whole staff to Gp and took over practice for one day. Let's not even talk about the trip to Norman and the nice brand new Tahoe he was driving.
Bet you didn't even know the Yankees where at practice almost everyday looking at him and also was willing to give him a million dollar sign on bonus but no he wanted to play football. Even when we got kicked out from blowu the Yankees where still calling him and he kept saying no.

Paul Thompson was a better qb than Bomar, let that sink in for a minute. And no, that team was built around Peterson lulz, where are you getting your info about that team being built for Bomar? When Bomar got kicked off the team I knew we’d be ok because he was below average and I couldn’t understand why he was arrogant as bad as he played. Sorry if that hurts your feelings but it’s true. Simply look at his stats. I remember the year he and Thompson started and we played TCU, we didn’t attempt a pass the whole 2nd half because he was that bad. Yes we know the story about Peterson. Are you saying I should thank you?Never said anything about his dad now but in the past I knew how his dad was and if his dad is different now I wouldn't know. So go ahead and make a poll if you want and don't be opening your mouth calling me a millennial. Bomar was my friend so I won't let you talk bad about him and Peterson was going to go to Texas as well so your welcome for getting both. The ou team was built for Bomar if you didn't know that either. Texas also had a damn good team when you guys had Bomar if you don't remember that and Bomar still got you guys to 8-4 that year.

No, Paul Thompson the wr. Yes a wr came in and won the CCG and took OU to a BCS bowl. Yes, OU lost the game but a wr was a better QB than Bomar. I figured you had to Wikipedia what I was referring to regarding the TCU fiasco. Kudos. Reciting Bomar's recruit ranking only further solidifies my comments about him being overrated. Bomar was by far the worst qb of the Stoops era. Let that sink in. Yes, I'm sure Stoops said "Hey Peterson, I know you ran for over 1900 yards as a true freshman and are by far the best back to come around in a while but we're going to build the team around this qb coming in that hasn't taken a snap at the collegiate level, sorry" Lulz, yeah I'm sure that's what was said regarding Bomar. Dude look I understand Bomar was your bro and all but he flat out was not going to live up to his billing whatsoever. I will say this, if Mayfield acts cocky at least he can back it up and has some skins to show for it, Bomar was cocky and had nothing to show for it. As far as talent levels between the two, there is no legitimate comparison.Paul Thompson the 3rd year senior that tcu came in to your place and embarrassed y'all? I remember that, so what you are saying is Peterson threw the ball as well? Bomar was your last highest recruit since oh women better Mixon let that sink in. It's awesome you compare stats with a true freshman qb to a random senior that lost the job the Bomar and if it wasn't for Bomar leaving Thompson would of never seen the light of day but wait Bomar won his bowl game how did Thompson fair against one of the most memorable college plays in football history? You like to twist things around don't you, I'll pray for you tonight.
Maybe you guys should see if those cops have any eligibility left. The fact that nothing happened to him at all for Arkansas tells you all you need to know about OU
LOL ...going in on the 3rd play of the game is so harsh...I am sure he will have nightmares about it. ....The Mayfield suspension is over after the first series and he now realizes that Riley don't play. Let that be an example to the other young players thinking of grabbing their nuts.

Once you cut through all the back bench chatter, one thing is blatantly clear, Texas and just about every other college football program would give it's right testicle to have Baker as their QB. You may think he's a punk but he's our punk and we love everything about him.
Think about how far back in the pack this kid is coming from. He wasn't groomed to be a champion. He was "nothing" coming out of high school, punked by Kingsbury, and arrived hat-in-hand at OU.
And now there talking about him as one of the greatest, maybe the greatest, college QB ever.
That would be a pretty emotional roller-coaster ride don't you think? A lot for a kid to handle? I know that I would have had trouble handling his success, maybe some of you guys would have too?
He messed up last Saturday, but I think he'll learn from his mistake because he is too hungry for success to let his immaturity prevent him from succeeding. If the world requires Mayfield to be more diplomatic, then he'll channel Henry Kissinger well enough so that on Saturday's (and eventually Sundays) he'll get to do what he loves more than anything in the world.
Mayfield has overcome every obstacle that has been put before him. Living in a fishbowl has its own unique set of pitfalls, and takes some getting used to, but he'll master it because he's come to far, and his heart is too big, to allow something ancillary to the actual game to keep him from achieving his goals.
