I teach both secondary and college level US History and Modern European history. It really isn't a challenge with current events as I am a historian. I stick to the past. When students want to discuss current events, I can always draw parallels to the past to get back on track. When politics come up, I am always playing Devil's Advocate. Just this week I was put in the spot of having to defend President Biden's decision to shutdown Keystone. It has always been my view that my job is to teach kids how to think critically, not to indoctrinate them. Give both sides and as
@weevilcatch said, let logic carry the day.
