Brayden Liebrock..

Talked to him after his team got blown out by Corona (Calif.) Centennial.

Honestly, Liebrock did not have an impressive performance. Caught a few passes but not for big yards and he wasn't used in the offense like I expected. Still a very talented kid but I wanted to see him dominate and he just didn't do it.

Here's the story:

Well if he wasn’t really used in the offense then it would make sense why he didn’t impress and dominate...can’t wait for y’all to move him down to a two star

He's not going to plummet but he had a few drops, isn't the most physical tight end I've ever seen and looked much more athletic and dynamic over the summer.

I think it’s weird that people give a shit about how guys move up and down in the rankings.

Do you think Herman and Co know how to evaluate? Do you think Herman and Co know how to develop players?

I’ve never felt better about evaluation and development at Texas personally.

The perception of the recruiting class can build momentum. Top guys want to play with other top guys

He looked very good in that game for what he had to work with. Funny, I would easily move him up after that game.

He dropped one ball and it wasnt the best ball. He caught several balls and was open several times as well. He blocked well with whoever was across from him.

I know why you work at Rivals.

Can a TE really dominate if his team is over matched?
Did not see game or disagreeing with your post.

Translation. We have probable cause to drop him in the rankings and this post will be bumped in 3 months when we do and y’all start bitching about it.
I believe Rivals has him ranked highest among the rankings services.

I watched his game and completely disagree...

A) his offense does not feature him at all and I believe at one point (on a 3rd and short) his QB tried to fit one in to their tiny slot receiver..instead of ya know...maybe looking at his wide open 6'5 TE who was right at the sticks for an easy first down.

B) He shows a willingness to block, I just think he needs to refine his technique a bit and add some more mass. Give mke an elite pass-catching TE who has a willingness to block, and I'm sure between the S&C program and the TE philosophy in Herman's system..we may have a player on our hands.

C) overall, I was disappointed with the game, but not as much disappointed with Liebrock himself.

D) I don't give a shit where he's ranked, he's the best TE prospect we've signed since I started following recruiting closely..and I hate the "well we have him rated higher than anyone else" response...Great, but all you're saying is your rating sucks a bit less than the other outlets.

Well said. Think Gorney was watching a different player. Number 19 Gorney not 88

Agreed, until proven wrong I feel this staff has done a damn fine job thus far.

You can't be taken seriously when you defend a rivals ranking system that also has Roschon Johnson the #48 player in Texas and not even sniffing the rivals 250.

And moved him up after seeing him at a 7-on-7 event. These threads are always amusing.

Move a guy up after a camp/7-on-7, nobody cares. Move him down, it's a crappy system and only games should count. Until a guy then struggles some in games.

The rankings guys literally can't win either way.

Seems like a pretty short sighted way to evaluate talent.

Guys, i am pretty sure a tight end should dominate every game he plays in even with a shitty QB and offensive scheme. It’s science.

You guys keeping thinking this is the Mack Brown era where we must have 18 of the top 20 players to be successful. Players that come in that dont get developed or get stronger.

I can’t wait for you guys to see how this team hits and how physical they will be. This is going to be fun to watch the undersized Big 12 teams go up against.
