Bru McCoy

USC 247 site moderator put out an article last night that Bru is considering going into the transfer portal and back to USC.

The moderators on the Texas 247 site have not been able to confirm or deny and are mysteriously quiet about it so there might be some legs to this
Weird, I wonder what the deal is

Please don't let this be true!

If true, he's making himself look like a head case. Two transfers in one semester? Wow. Just wow.

Trojan fan here. That isn’t his GF who is at Texas, it’s her sister
His GF is still in HS in Southern California
Apparently

What's the word out there? Bru seems like a heady guy with great family. He doesnt seem like the flip flopping type.

It’s gaining more traction and some folks saying he gone.
Some as far as saying he has already contacted Helton telling him he is coming home.

We have yet to submit his transfer portal eligibility ppw. I don't know why.

I'm pretty sure he will lose a year of eligibility with this transfer. Not a big deal for a kid that only expects to play 3 years, but unless he has a good excuse for all this BS, I'm pretty sure he will have to sit out and lose that year.

McCoy is not going to start for us at WR. He would be a very good lb. He wants to play the wrong position. He is too slow to play wr. Go check the all american game. He didn't look good at wr.

Let him go if he wants to go, but the kid needs to learn to make decisions and stick to them. Being flaky like this will not serve him well in the future.

I have heard this kid has his own lawyers. Maybe they were dragging things out so that his options would stay open in case he changes his mind. I can see a scenario where they told him he could go to UT in the spring and see how he liked it. If he decides he wants to leave then they figure out how to transfer again. Maybe not submitting the paperwork doesn't bind him to Texas and he can leave without any restrictions?

Hmmmmmmm. I'll do some asking around.

This whole thing is beyond weird...something tells me the explanation has to be this dynamic to make any sense.

I'm all for the transfer portal as an advocate for what's best for the athlete, but this situation is ridiculous.

To be honest the kid grew up a BIG USC fan.....he really wanted to go there but TEXAS was very intriguing to the kid. He gave it a shot but deep down he's been missing Cali and feels he can be happier back home.....why Anyone would pick the state of California over Texas is beyond me.....good luck to the kid....hope things work out for him

He was AT USC. He left them to come here and now hes like oops? Good luck to him but yeesh.

Has his own lawyers. Transfers twice before the first season starts, since he already isn't getting everything he wants and felt promised. It seems like he's convinced he's gonna be a star--and maybe he will be--but it means he has baggage. Prima donna?

I was pretty gung ho, prior to this. He seemed mature from how he acted on the field in his highlights. And maybe there's a part of him that is. But the optics of all this transferring aren't good for him. It's bound to affect how teammates and coaches treat him, and maybe the NFL if he gets that far.

Who cares Department:

Loss of Bru McCoy would cause Aggie class to be ranked higher than ours.

We Longhorns have no problem with that. We aren't losing our minds. So what?

you have to wonder if we need to hold an exorcism or something....we lose a star to stroke....a star to spinal stenosis....a star to...uh...whatever got into Bru( and I wish him well whatever he does)....and maybe one to kidney issues....bad joss I tell ya....

Thats where I am different from ya'll, I would tell the kid " If you don't want to be at Texas then get your young Ass off the North Forty" we don't need ya and that there was a greyhound headed West at 3, be on it! We don't need no one who don't wanna be a Texas Longhorn,,,,period!

That triple negative sentence is pretty much how I feel.:) I took that attitude with girls after the 1st heartbreak. If you can do better, go for it. If you don't want to be at Texas, then move along and don't take valuable practice time from somebody that loves Texas and does want to be there.

Coaches look at this in another way. Bru wasn't here to contribute next season, he was here because he was needed for the 2020 season, anything he gives you next season is bonus. We need him badly for when we lose Collin Johnson. All we need from him and every freshman is to just learn the system and prepare their body for the game. If they are good enough to contribute immediately, then great, but he needs to contribute as a sophomore and that his a huge loss in 2020. We are losing a ton of WR talent after next season including John Burt, Devin Duverney, and Collin Johnson. What we have coming back is Joshua Moore as the only proven talent we currently know of. Yes we have Eagles and Pouncey and Epps who could be really good, but we don't know yet. Having a talent like Bru is huge, it pushes everyone to step up their game and makes the position as a whole better.

Will we survive without him, absolutely, will we be better with him, absolutely. The kid is away from home for the first time in his life, it's hard, and he wasn't ready, this happens to a lot of people. Hopefully he can over come this and stick with Texas.

Interesting perspective and I agree with most of what you said. I think one of the reasons that it looks like we don’t have proven talent at the WR position is b/c we are so stacked at WR. That will change a little bit after this season but we have WR for days. If this were to happen at LB, that would hurt much more. Bottom line though, Bru is a kid. He’s probably home sick and this is the biggest decision of his life thus far.

Herman, Elinger and others are headed to California to twist his arm to come back to Texas. That’s funny in itself.
I just read an article stating this. Why go to those measures for a kid that hasn’t taken a snap in a game yet. Herman should not play into the kids game and say good riddance imo. If the kid does return to Texas this year, what’s to say he sticks it out? Some kids are too much drama.

Yeah really....kinda like Ou running backs punching on girls.....but that doesn't count as drama since it's a common thing in Oklahoma I guess.
