Safety Caden Sterns (ranked 39 national, 4 safety, 5 in Texas) made a surprise visit to the 40 this weekend and it looks like Herman and Co did a good job selling him on the program. Sterns committed to LSU shortly after Herman was hired at Texas and has seemed like a strong commit to the tigers. Until this weekend that is. 8 crystal balls have rolled in for him today after his visit yesterday, including from some national guys and LSU writers.

Some more good news may be coming soon.

Major surprise here as Sterns was felt to be solid to LSU. This was a bit out of nowhere but great news and really shows how ruthless Herman and Co. will be in recruiting. These guys won't quit. With Sterns on board, now it's time to get a commitment from BJ Foster, an even higher ranked safety target.

In regards to what my man Paul Finebaum (sarcasm) said last week about TX schools, especially UT, not recruting elite talent. Well I have an answer for that. Those days are over at least as far as the horns are concerned.

There was a lot made out of the fact that none of the top 10 players in Texas committed to Texas last year. That narrative is quickly changing as I could see between 6-7 of the top 10 coming to Texas this year.

I think it's due to "We're Texas" attitude but the problem is we're not winning. With the Tom Herman hire the potential is there and I'll just trust the process. Not going to crap on his recruiting the first year because we used to get who we wanted (when we were winning).

People love to knock us when they have the chance. I'm hoping those days are behind us.

Believe me they are.

With the kids out of school for the summer I'm looking forward to seeing if coach Herman can sign a few more elite players.
