I don’t really see why that’s controversial. He would probably admit that it’s a weak spot for him.We won but,,,,, Can’t wait time read the “Chris Beard can’t coach offense” analysis on this one!
Credit Ramey on that. I’m pretty sure he was guarding him all game. Not sure anyone else did.Agbahji is a projected lottery pick and he was completely shut down tonight.
I’d like Mitchell taking 3’s if he knocked down a higher %. The one he hit tonight was obviously big though.Great win. Huge win actually as KU is an outstanding team. KU is going to be a 2 or 3 seed and possibly a 1 seed if they win the B12. Things are coming together offensively. We have to run our offense through Timmy Allen, he’s a matchup problem for opponents because he’s 6’7” and is an outstanding passer and ball handler. Makes excellent decisions with the ball and knows how to move without the ball to find the weak spots in the D.
I like Tre Mitchell taking threes. He’s not making them at a high rate but it’s very important that he becomes a threat from outside because Allen and Bishop have no range from deep. One of our bigs has to be a threat out there from 3.
Loved Rameys D on Agbahji. Great to see him embracing defense over scoring. I’ve never seen him guard like this in his 4 years at UT.
With three straight wins over top 20 teams, we have a shot at getting a 4-5 seed as long as we finish out the season strong. We don’t have to win out but if we do we can make a case for a 2-3 seed.
If Tech can avoid Gonzaga .... and OU! Poor effort last night by the Red Raiders.Tech is a bonafide final four team…there is only one team we are worried about at this point - Gonzaga…they handled us pretty easy earlier this year even with us holding Timme and Holmgren to 12 points combined…they shot lights out from three…
This said if we do not end up in their bracket we will make the final four.
If the big 10 could get Kansas basketball without having to take Kansas football they’d take them in a heartbeatFun facts:
(1) Texas last lost to KU over two years ago, on February 3, 2020.
(2) Texas is the only Big 12 school with three consecutive wins over KU in the Bill Self era.
(3) The B1G doesn’t want you, Kansas. F*ck you. Kindly eat sh*t and die.
In retrospect ... Mangino may have been the greatest coach ever. He took that eye sore of a program and won an Orange Bowl. Nothing close before or since. If the big 10 could get Kansas basketball without having to take Kansas football they’d take them in a heartbeat
I live around KU territory… mangino got a raw deal at KU.In retrospect ... Mangino may have been the greatest coach ever. He took that eye sore of a program and won an Orange Bowl. Nothing close before or since.
May not matter. We look like we’re packing it in for the day.JTT out for Baylor. Huge loss - he is the heart and soul of the team.
I think people that are saying “this is a rebuilding year” don’t quite grasp this roster. We have the 3rd oldest roster in the country. Basically no one coming back next year most likely. This team wasn’t put together to “rebuild”. This team was put together to get the beard era off to a good start. This is a 10-8 team in conference. It's going to take few years.
So again I ask - what would you view as a success this year? Last year’s team lost to ACU in the Big Dance. Shaka left UT with nothing but a decent 3 point shooter - Jones - and a hustling overachiever - Cunningham. Beard built a top 20 team on the fly. They ran into a buzz saw today. UT fans don’t fully appreciate they are the BIG game, in EVERY sport, on every one else’s schedule. You are very clear in your posts that Beard and this team suck - so what do you need to see to say you are wrong (or right) about Beard? Conference Championship or bust?I think people that are saying “this is a rebuilding year” don’t quite grasp this roster. We have the 3rd oldest roster in the country. my problem isn’t that they lost to Baylor. Baylor is good. My problem is that when they are on the road against good teams they aren’t even competitive. I mean Gonzaga, Tech, Baylor, Iowa state they were all pretty much over by halftime. This team is too talented to be getting whipped this bad on the road.
Well you for sure have to get out of the first round of the tournament, but people focus so much on the tournament game they forget that last years team swept KU, won the Maui invitational, and won the big 12 tournament, so although the NCAA tournament didn’t go as we wanted there were a lot of successes. So again I ask - what would you view as a success this year? Basketball is the complete opposite of football. There isn’t really such thing as rebuilding in basketball with the transfer portal and so many guys leaving after a year or 2.I think people that are saying “this is a rebuilding year” don’t quite grasp this roster. Agree 100%. Every season in CBB takes on a life of its own. It's going to be up and down every year in CBB for most programs. Even elite programs will have a couple of down years. Believe it or not - Gonzaga and Baylor will have down years very soon. The transfer portal and one and done for elite prospects has changed CBB. The programs that will sustain this period will be those with outstanding coaching and development. I believe that Beard and his staff will be in that group very soon. The future is very bright for Texas basketball.Basketball is the complete opposite of football. All it takes is one elite guy to completely come in and take a team over the top.
Yep. In basketball you only need one or two studs and a good supporting cast to have a decent team. Most of the good players won’t be around more than 1-2,years. Way different than football. You can’t really build a team in one year. Although Sark sure is giving it a try lolBasketball is the complete opposite of football. There is the issue of instilling toughness in defense and a good offense that resists the urge to jack of crap like Shaka's teams did. It takes a while to teach these techniques and to ensure that players follow the coach's lead. It's harder to get transfers to follow or do new things that are difficult in one year. The motion offense is highly disciplined and hard to do but it's highly effective against undisciplined and lazy teams which are the norm in cbb today. It will take a few years of younger players working through the system for the Longhorns to have sustained tournament success. It's a good thing that CDC understands this unlike some of our fanbase.Yep. In basketball you only need one or two studs and a good supporting cast to have a decent team. Couple of things. Texas roster is full of 22-23 year old dudes who won’t be here next year, so I’m not sure how “it takes a couple years” makes sense with the roster Beard basically hand picked. There is the issue of instilling toughness in defense and a good offense that resists the urge to jack of crap like Shaka's teams did.
