Vice President Pence was asked if there will be travel restrictions coming within the U-S and he did not rule out the possibility.

Vice President Pence
"We're considering a broad range of measures but no decisions have been made yet."

Cutting off flights within the U-S could have an even bigger impact on the economy than the European travel ban (which is being expanded to include the UK and Ireland, beginning Monday).

##### UPDATE #####

A senior official at the Department of Homeland Security tells CBS News that a domestic travel ban isn't in the works at this time.

I’m not going to say what should have or shouldn’t have been done sooner. These are difficult decisions and we don’t need to make rash decisions. If they had just up made the restrictions 2 ago then that would have made the hysteria that much worse and at the time people would have considered it absolutely ridiculous

Everyone is a great armchair president.

My company stopped domestic travel (unless absolutely necessary with specific approval ) weeks ago. We missed our chance in the containment phase. Now it’s mitigation
My entire organization is flying back home today. Once we get home we were told to stay until further notice

yep if he did it earlier morons would bitch about him overreacting. It’s how they do.

Of course. and the morons who blindly support everything he does would call it brilliant.

like I posted yesterday - I live one this crazy world where I’m one of about 3 people who aren’t completely in the tank for one side or the other. It’s remarkable that folks can’t objectively critique their own “side’s” failures.

Things like this will speed up the decision making process.

Spirit flight 162.

Emergency responders transferred a passenger to the hospital immediately after landing on Spirit flight 162 from Fort Lauderdale to Hartford early this afternoon. Spirit pilots notified authorities following reports the passenger exhibited cold-like symptoms during the flight. As a precaution, the passenger will be monitored and undergo testing. Public health authorities will handle any future notifications following testing, if necessary. The plane is undergoing enhanced cleaning and disinfectant procedures per CDC and local airport authority guidelines. The safety or our Guests and our Team Members is our top priority. As a reminder, we urge any Guests not to fly if they are feeling ill.

It amazing how many people believe a single government official is somehow responsible for stopping a virus. Today's culture of finger pointing and lack of personal accountability is toxic.

You don't need the President to tell you not to get on damn plane. Be an adult.

(I would make the same statements about any standing officials, btw. Dem or Rep. Astonishing how our culture has turned into a bunch of infants expecting everything to be done for them. )

I don't think the vast majority of people believe that...not even the president's harshest critics. He's not responsible for stopping a virus. Now, if someone wants to challenge the administration's response that's a different argument (and one I won't weigh in on either way). But nobody's blaming him for coronavirus and I think the polls bear that out.

Let’s just shut the whole country down for three weeks instead of dribbling this out for months. Use corporate and personal tax breaks to minimize the short-term impact. New cases would plummet and the economy would recover very quickly.

Italy has done that, but new cases keep going up.

It feels like it’s heading that direction. I guess we could just rip the bandaid off

And like almost everything he’s done on this - too late
Nonsense. The China travel ban came in early February and was widely panned as excessive and racist. It was the right call, and it was a tough call.

The President is not responsible for this and to suggest otherwise is asinine. The virus is everywhere.

My daughter is moving out of her dorm Monday at CU Boulder. She had hip surgery last month so I need to go help her. Hate the idea of flying but I leave tomorrow and we both head home Monday. Hopefully we get that one in before a shutdown. Silver lining is that first class was really inexpensive and I feel it’s more spread out but I’ll bring wipes for the area I’m in.
