Domestic Travel Ban?

Yep.
We can’t survive this without help at this point

screw the shareholders, but hopefully they can help save jobs, or cushion the blow for those impacted.

It goes way beyond just airlines though. Lots of people are gonna need help

It feels like it’s heading that direction. I guess we could just rip the bandaid off
This would result in tens of thousands of business failures and tens of millions of unemployed Americans. It would create a situation as bad as or worse than the Great Depression.

Suggesting that everything just shut down for 3 weeks is a tell tale sign that you don’t have employees, who have families, that you are responsible for.

Remember what we are talking about here. The mortality rate is likely closer to .05% than 5%.

Nonsense. The China travel ban came in early February and was widely panned as excessive and racist. It was the right call, and it was a tough call.

The President is not responsible for this and to suggest otherwise is asinine. The virus is everywhere.
I mean it it excessive if it’s “just a cold” right?

1. I think the good citizen has a kind of duty here to give the government the benefit of the doubt. Modern, representative democracy hasn't been around that long, and never before has it had to deal with a problem of this nature on this scale, in real time. We need to trust that they're doing the best they can, with the resources they have available and the limitations, both personal and societal, that they have to overcome.

2. None of us really know the ultimate health outcomes here, nor can we calculate with any precision the structural damage that any reaction or over-reaction to the virus might have on the constitution of the polis. Even when a prediction happens to be correct, it was not something we really knew. To pretend otherwise is hubris.

3. Rein in your need to accuse the 'powers that be' and instead focus your energy on looking after your neighbors and friends and co-workers.

4. There will come a time for political reckoning, if you feel it's warranted. That time is November.

Not really. Our choices in November suboptimal - just as they have been for the last several elections

I am stuck in quarantine from the Grand Princess at Miramar Marine Flight Center in San Diego. If they tell me I can't go back to Texas when this is over on 3/24....Well somebody hold my beer !!!
Man, I can't imagine. I hope you've avoided the virus aboard the ship.

Hopefully that won’t be necessary. Can’t comprehend the economic impact. As long as people continue to cooperate with social distancing and being smart, I’d like to think that wouldn’t be needed. We’re already getting community transmission, so not sure how helpful that would be.

Let’s just shut the whole country down for three weeks instead of dribbling this out for months. Use corporate and personal tax breaks to minimize the short-term impact. New cases would plummet and the economy would recover very quickly.
Fairytale

And like almost everything he’s done on this - too late
Dumb comment. He was the first to ban travel from China and it was blasted as being racists. Banned travel from Europe and blasted by Dems and Euro leaders who failed to ban travel from China and they are worse off bc of it. This is and has been a fluid situation and they are doing exactly what their health advisers are advising them to do.

This is exactly what should happen. Should have already happened.

Not sure how anyone can objectively look at the last 4 to 5 weeks and not see an unmitigated disaster in how it was handled.

How to handle, ten days ago:

How not to handle, Five days ago.
Your hatred is making you look foolish
We have an unbelievably low infection rare that doesn't warrant some of the crap we are doing out of paranoia.

And Obama's input was as worthless as his advice to fight the energy crisis by saying everyone should inflate their tires properly. But what would you expect from someone a mile long and an inch deep.

A senior official at the Department of Homeland Security tells CBS News that a domestic travel ban isn't in the works at this time.

I’m not going to say what should have or shouldn’t have been done sooner. These are difficult decisions and we don’t need to make rash decisions. If they had just up made the restrictions 2 ago then that would have made the hysteria that much worse and at the time people would have considered it absolutely ridiculous
This. And people would not have followed the majority of it, and we'd have real issues.
