Yes, these are kids we are talking about....
Yes, I wish he signed with us.

His comment for why FSU was interesting and unique.
I am paraphrasing..." This is where I can make a name for myself and further build my brand".

That had to be the key message/ Tom Brewster sold him on.

Even ESPN commented on the lack of support for him in the signing hall.

I wish him all the humility.

He acquired a handler during the process who wants to became a sports agent. The handler is why DJax never took an official visit to Texas as there was a fee to get an official visit.

He's a kid, good luck to him.

He's more of a thumper and would be better for offenses in the ACC, after a down senior year I don't know if he could hang at MLB with offenses in the Big 12 at 240lbs with probably adding more weight thru bulking.

Wish him luck.

I agree here.

At his weight, he will either lean up and tone it up and stay around that playing weight and stay at LB. Or he will gain weight and move to DL. Depends on his work ethic, etc. Either way, he is better suited for more run heavy conference.

I am not mad at him one bit. Best of luck. You are going from stud on the depth chart to instantly not even having a jersey #. Got some work to do to "build that brand".

Willing to bet 2-bits he will end up transferring. Not sure where_just the vibes about this situation... came across as totally not sold on the commit.

Can you please educate me on the fee for an an OV?
Who pays?
Who receives?

Thanks.

Wish we could get Tim Brewster to fill that RB coaching position. Guy is a recruiting witch. Remember he's the guy responsible for brining VY to UT.

Come on guys, we sound a little Aggyish here. He is a kid, a very talented player. Saying he he got a handler and that is the reason he didn´t visit is wrong, because he actually did visit weekend before signing day. FSU is a great program and I can´t blame a kid for going there. I am sure he will be a good one, but thankfully we have Malik, Wheeler, Hager, Freeman, Shark, Fowler, Townsend, and Boyd, I am sure we will be fine at the position.

Usually the OV fees are in $10,000-20,000. Pretty sure Will Lyles was charging $10K for an official by Seastrunk.

Paid by someone associated with a team that wants the player to come in on an official visit.
Received by a handler or someone an arm's length from the family usually. As the saying goes, there's always an 'uncle'.

We sound like Aggy's?...couldn't be a worse insult in my book.

However, think Wheeler will evolve into our MLB...

Tim got booted for closing the deal with other staff and athletic dept.'s wives.

Handler fees are for official visits as a recruit can only take 5 of them. They get paid so that on a big recruiting weekend the other recruits are impressed that Mr. Blue Chip(s) is using one of his official visits on that school too.

Thank you.

BTW, I did not intend for this thread to go in this direction. I am not alleging any foul play whatsoever in the recruitment of this kid.
My purpose was to highlight the "build my brand" comment.

Who gets the money and is it legal?

By legal do you mean against the NCAA bylaws? If so then yes. Handler keeps some and gives the kid's family some or pays to take the family on the OV and keeps the whole fee.

Now in DJax's case if his handler is trying to be an agent then Texas passed some pretty strong anti-agent in the college rank laws that would apply. But proving it and getting a prosecutor to care is a whole other matter.

Sounds like ransom money.do many schools pay these dirtbags? Thanks.

Kids want to play where they are on the national TV stage....

I can see a kid wanting to go to FSU....playing on eastern time before a large TV audience.

Prime Time was doing the "build my brand" thing in college about the time that Boz was doing the same at Oklahoma. They were the progenitors of the "look at me" college athletes we have today.

exactly what I was thinking. He didn't sign with us so he isn't all that great and money changed hands.
