Not only no but F*** no! Campbell is the only guy on that list that has the actual coaching chops but imo is better suited to a place like Iowa State where the spotlight isn’t so bright.

It’s either him or a guy like Venables or an OC/DC that is highly regarded and super successfully at either the NFL or P5 college level. It NFL they need to have college experience and be fairly young.
I have a friend in San Antonio who is no fan of the Longhorns. He is an Ohio St fan and we had been talking back and forth about Urban. He can see many of the coaching and cultural issues the Longhorns currently face. He actually asked me about thinking outside the box and hiring Jeff Traylor. I think he is a fine coach, but he doesn't have the experience and skins on the wall to be considered for a job as big as Texas.
No on Fickle, but Venables is an excellent coach who never seems to get enough mention as a potential HC.
We definitely need to put together an offer and go make all of the elite coaches in the country tell us no. You don't know the answer if you never ask the question.
Then you move down to your next tier of coaches who are good who you feel could be great with the resources Texas has to offer.

Sorry. Cristobal is not the answer. Besides a head coach isn’t the main recruiter. Our assistants need to be badass recruiters, not the head coach.
Campbell is the only stomachable one.
Fleck is a bit. The schtick dries out quickly.
Cristobal is not doing himself any favors losing to terrible teams like Cal and Oregon state.
Fickell and Campbell need to be the first options of tier 2.
If we get down to Hugh freeze, venables, Cristobal were really grasping at straws.
Herman returning is a sad reality we have to really consider.

The truth is, for whatever reason, just about any hotshot coach brought in from the outside, struggles to get a foothold in the B12. Either the speed of the game, or they install a defense they thought would work, but doesn't, or they don't recruit well enough....Matt Campbell has been through it all, and he has put together one of the best progtams in the conference. If we don't get an Urban, Matt Campbell would be much better than what we have. When we jumped up on ISU, a buddy of mine who is an ISU grad, texted me "Damn, I knew we would blow this game to you all....." I texted him back.."Watch your coaches. They won't panic. They will keep being who they are, and who they want to be. They will run the ball and hit those bookend TEs." And that is exactly what they did. Campbell would be an immediate upgrade.
I remember who they were. I also remember he never won a NYE Bowl. and he lost 2x to Charlie Strong. No one said he wasn't a good coach. But elite? I'd tap the brakes, and we would NEVER hire him.
I’d never advocate hiring him. He’s a pos.
No one should EVER hire him yet Mt. Vernon did and he’s gonna win a state title. Then in the near future he’s gonna get a college gig. Why you may ask? Because he’s elite. And he will probably beat whatever coach we have 50% of the time...if not more. He’s a Texas coaching legend who should be tar and feathered.

Agree, he would be best choice. Head coaching experience, Washington & USC, great offensive coach and from the Sabin tribe.
Add Hugh Freeze to that list also,he's probably the best of the bunch even with the baggage.
Also Has it been proven for real that Stoopsie has no interest? Yes I know he's a lifetime Gooner.
Mack Brown was revered here, right up until he went into a deep funk and his Lazy-Boy recliner following the 2009 season.
I just have to laugh at everyone that poopoos any of these guys. Who in the hell is out there to go get that doesn’t have something bad on the resume. Saban, Dabo, Day, and Riley aren’t coming here. The rest of the bunch are the same guy for all practical purposes.
