Hey Domers

How old is your son?

I fought from '08 to '14. I am one of the co-founders of Indy Boxing & Grappling. https://m.facebook.com/IndyBoxingandGrappling?refsrc=https://www.facebook.com/IndyBoxingandGrappling

We have 6-8 current or former UFC veterans who are out of there & coach. We also have a dozen or so more who are associated with us who come in & train.
We run it as a non-profit so every kid that walks in the door trains for free. The pros coach after we finish our practice.
We have the '72 Olympic Gold a Medalist (Sugar Ray Seales) as our boxing coach. We have a dozen black belts in BJJ. We have two AA wrestling coaches, & the head MMA coach has cornered ove 50 UFC fights.
And the daily coaches are the likes of Chris Lytle, Matt Mitrone, Andrew Holbrook, Garett Whiteley (who have a combined 50 UFC fights between them).

I got into it in my military career, then when I was getting bored during my medical career I got back into it. Now I work from home (Epidemiologist) & train fighters part time.

What school is your son out of? Is he in Virginia? I'm actually going to a wedding in southern Maryland in October, & was going to visit some schools in Virginia.
My son is in college right now and working part time. Very hard for him to train. He walks around 6'2" and 165 but he cut to 145.lbs for his fight. I wish your gym was close to Blacksburg VA. He has trained with Duane "Bang" Ludwig ...his bjj coach you would never have heard of but it is 10th planet. My son went to a High School that is going on their 14th or 15th straight State championship in wrestling. He is above average on the ground by quite a bit. I wish there was a big gym he could go to here. His mother was learning what "mission control" and "electric chair" and all the other terms were. She would yell out these things during his competitions and I would just smile. Football is my first love and he loves it too but MMA is bigger to him. If your gym was a little closer I would try to get him there for a week or 2. Chris Lytle is one of his and my favorites fighters. I hate he retired.

Chris will be thrilled to hear that. He is still the toughest guy in the gym. He finishes the younger pro fighters every day with ease.

We have one gym under us that is 10th planet. Most of our gyms are Carlson Gracie or DeLaRiva.

I can never get pics from my phone to load on here, but if I can I will get some of me & Chris on here. If you want, I could probably send you out something signed from Chris to your son.

I am amazed this thread lives on, and that it has remainedcivil thus far minus decker being a tard.... good stuff.

Nah, that blowhard isn't worth anyone's time. Let him annoy his own fan-base.

Have you seen the robot dummies at the ND practice yet? Pretty funny.

What is that saying about, if you have 2 QB's you have none? Kelly is going to play both, Strong, both, maybe more. Wheeeeeee!

I have no inside info on the matter, but what I read from a reporter (so take it with a grain of salt) that it is a package situation. Kizer on most plays & Zaire in read option/pass plays.
They both can run both offenses, so it seems more like a decision to keep both engaged.

I'm actually more surprised about the LB position. I thought Coney would start, but they announced Martini is. Martini is more dependable & experienced but Coney is crazy athletic despite young.
Still competition for guard.

Is the banged up WDE a starter?

Jay Hayes wasn't even in the two deep before camp, but I guess he had a really good camp, moved up & coaches thought he would get snaps as second string. It sounds like he will ready by then, but not sure if he lost his spot in the two-deep he earned?

Pretty much what I figured went down, Coach wanted a 1 pm kick and he was trumped by the AD.

Last time was a noon kickoff in '96 if I can remember correctly?
I watched the 4Q on YouTube a while back & I remember Keith Jackson saying it was "well over a hundred" during the last 5 minutes.

I have always found it interesting how AD's negotiate dates & times of games. I saw a stat a few years back that said USC hadn't played a game in the north (not counting Pac12 northwest) after October 20 in like 50 years. And SEC teams will not either.
That is why USC & Stanford will only play at ND before week 6 when the games in California are end of season.

I was a senior in HS.
I watched it on VHS tape my parents recorded for me because I had practice that day.

I too was a senior.... and was forced to sit through and watch a stupid debate tournament being held at my school to get credit for the only elective I took senior year - debate... wasnt on the team and basically played the rold of usher to make sure ppl made it to their events... however I wheeled out a TV and watched the game... as the game went on more ppl came to watch... at around the 3rd quarter my teacher came and found me and took the tv away before she ook me into hall and explained that me watching the game got other sudents too caught up in it and got roughly 60% of the competitors to be diswualified for missing their events.. haha I was given an empty classroom to watch the rest of the game and wasnt asked to go back to any more of those eents... lmao. fun day

I didnt believe this was a real story until I went to the ND board....they were talking about it.

Big difference between ND fan and aggy fan.....The whole board was pissed at the PLAYERS and not the cops!...amazing diffence...most were calling for dismissals

I can post my brother's ND degree on here & say it is mine. Pointless. Has to be in person liar.

I will bring my DD214, which is official DOD paperwork.

Then I will let you hold my degree from IUSM (Indiana School of Medicine) in your own hands.

Then I will let you have a copy of my national MMA license. I have to carry copies with me for events even though I retired, I still corner. In fact, we have gyms everywhere I visit, so where are you? I can come to you. That makes it easy.

And if you graduated a few years ago from ND, you went to ND with Adm. McRaven's daughter. I can show you pics of me with him, drinking beer at a ND game viewing party in DC. She was there too, with mom. He was my boss's boss.
(If any Texas fans want to see it, let me know & I will email it to you).

And it is all in person. You bring your ND degree & stand right in front of me & hand it to me to my face. I will hand you all my stuff.

I took you off ignore to see why EVERYBODY was blowing you up. But now I'm forced to put you back on ignore.

So either bring the paperwork (to an agreed upon location) & hand it to me in person, or go away forever.
Is that too much action for you, lying coward?

I have no problem standing by everything I say because it is all documented. And willing to hand it to you to your face. But we all know you will never get within 100 miles of me.

But I will still buy you a soda if you show.

Goodnight. (Back on ignore)
Was Chris Craven your boss?

This won't go over well at ND. Historically the coaching staff doesn't even have final say, the school will put the hammer down.
One question I have is how do three of the five get charged for one gun? Shouldn't it be all five (until somebody admits its theirs) or just one person? Why three?
Either way they will probably be gone if history holds true.

Per another poster:

Six Notre Dame football players were arrested overnight between Friday and Saturday, facing charges ranging from misdemeanor marijuana possession to unlicensed handgun possession and battery.

Five were arrested in Fulton County, Ind., Friday night. Each of those five faces a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession, and three face an additional charge of handgun possession without a license.

Another player, senior cornerback Devin Butler, was arrested in St. Joseph County shortly after midnight, charged with battery against a police officer and resisting a police officer, The Observer, Notre Dame’s student newspaper, reported.

The five arrested in Fulton County are sophomore running back Dexter Williams, sophomore linebacker Te’Von Coney, freshman receiver Kevin Stepherson, senior safety Max Redfield and sophomore cornerback Ashton White.

Williams, Stepherson and Redfield are the players facing the handgun charge, according to Indiana state police.

In my best Mr. Burns voice . . . 'Egggcelent Smithers, eggscelent!'

So you are glad that young men just ruined their futures?
From a football standpoint the only person it affects is Redfield. The others would not be playing anyways.
I think it will galvanize the rest of the team who didn't act like idiots.

I don't think he means it in a mean or cruel way- more of a "shaudenfrued" (sp) way..... kinda like "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" sorta way.

I think the reply was tongue in cheek from a fans perspective.. nobody is cheering them being stupid, ut in reality this can make the game easier for us... and I think this type of incident happening this close to the opener will have a bad impact on the teams mentality going forward bc this just became the focal point of the program whether you can admit it or not.... They will read about this, be asked about this, hear about this all the way till the season starts... that is a lot of distraction....

on a side note the charge on the handgun may seem wierd that only 3 of 5 were tagged for it... but there was a player at Texas years back that got charged with something like this while in a car with other players... they charged him based of proximity to the weapon.. which is how they decide "possession"... so that may explain it... either way, seems like a legal slap on the wrist for all but the idiot who committed battery.... but if ND acts like a Religious based school should act, all of these guys need to be gone for at least 3 games..... especially after all the stuff that went on in Waco and how they just tried to side step and cover up etc.... im really thinking recent events of stupid players will force the hands of the administration of Notre Dame here to a degree...

Let's all use our common sense---- they were in a car.....two in the front and 3 in the back....

Obviously the gun was in the back--- perhaps in the back pocket of the driver seat or passenger seat. Cop sees gun and asks "who's is this"? All 3 kids in the back play dumb. Cop charges all 3 with possession.

They will be gone longer than that. lol. Unless one person steps forward & admits the gun & drugs were his, having other players' charges dropped.

The gun owner & Butler are gone.
I would bet they are out (of school) for a year, minimum.

First off, please acquaint yourself with sarcasm. Secondly, their futures aren't ruined. They'll be back playing in front of TD Jesus faster than u can say 'Irish Suck Balz'.

Jeesh, lighten up Francis. You are, after all, on Texas board. Good natured smack talk is the main course served up here.

No worries. I was just asking.
And ever who the gun belonged to & Butler will be gone.
I can give you a long list of examples, but I will give just three most recent ones of high caliber players.
1) All American & future Dallas Cowboy RB Jones kicked out of school for year, not for failing NCAA standards, but for not meeting ND requirements of working towards degree in 4 years.
2) Returning starting QB from BCS title game kicked out of school for year, not caught cheating, but admits to cheating on a test.
3) Four players, including future NFL player Russell kicked out of school for cheating on HW assignment together.

In all three cases the ND ethics board made the ruling, not the NCAA, or even coaches.

I don't think they will go soft on a illegal gun owner & police assaulter.

Likely going to see Swoopes at QB, he's clicking in this new look. It's going to be interesting to see if they load the box and come after him with question marks in coverage.
