Do a little checking around, and you will see why some of our freshman AA's ARE better than yours, hence the difference in impact heading in to this game.......

Preseason list has Jefferson as a #1 AA LB for the year, and before it is done you can add probably 4 more horns to that list all over the team. Enjoy the festivities in Austin, but just know your asses are gonna get clowned right out of town when you leave with a loss and some wounded pride... well for the douchetard domer fans anyways.... the good fans will be treated with respect. ;)

It is 9:30 PM and the temp is all the way down to 91......Of course it hasn't started getting as hot as it will be in Sept.

Glad to see your nice and confident, looking forward to watching your fat linemen drop like flies with craps.

"Flies with craps" would suck!? Lol

Anyways, I'm not saying anything, I just sit back & chuckle at the heat argument. Some of the things people say (on both sides) are not scienentific on any level. It would be like me trying to talk math with you & starting off saying 2+2 is 5. You can pretty much ignore me after that. I can bore you with medical physiology of the human body & what it takes for heat to lower performance, but I won't. (Unless you want me to?)
I actually find it interesting a program as historic & successfu as Texas thinks that ND will be bothered by that.
I'm not over-confident (I have yet to say "we're going to kick your ass), I'm just in touch with reality.
I just hope it isn't allergy season too! Lol

Other than the fact that ND is actually SOGNIFICANTLY more talented than Texas and is the favorite to win on Texas's own field, despite ND being in a "rebuilding year" after losing tons of studs to the NFL while Texas had a grand total of 1 player drafted (4th round)........you're really into something here.

Malik Jefferson would start at ND and be our best LB this year, so at least you have that going for you

Significantly* and here you go with your loud mouth again. Malik will have a better career and be better then smith mark that down. And we have been rebuilding you nut if you have been paying any kind of attention. Go somewhere with your crap you weren't missed by any means by the way.

I will take that bet. From a pure, factual football perspective, not opinion. We can look at it.

Well, we have the high school/college standards already for Malik to match Jaylon.

Smith was the 2012 national HS Butkis Award Winner, Jefferson the 2014 Winner.
Both were USA Today AA's

Smith was 2nd team AA as true sophomore.
Jefferson is true sophomore this year, so needs to be at least 2nd team AA at end of season. (Also, Smith was 4 votes from 1st team, so top ranked 2nd team AA).

Smith was Consensus 1st team AA as true Junior. And consensus Butkis Award Winner.
So Jefferson must be Consensus in both next year.

Smith won 27 games as a starter at ND. Jefferson will have to win 11 games each of the next two years to match that. Smith also played (for a quarter) in a BCS game. And beat LSU in another bowl, playing in three bowls in three years. Jefferson cannot do this (missed bowl already) but still can win a bowl against a legit team or make a BCS bowl.

Smith will miss this season in the NFL due to injury, but was a top 3 pick on PFT's board (which is consensus by NFL scouts) before injury. Once he heals, I will gladly take that bet. Smith is considered to be elite at OLB, even at the NFL level by all coaches & scouts. That is why he was the 34th overall pick even though they knew he would miss at least a year.

P.S. I wasn't going to say anything, but Jefferson IS NOT rated the #1 LB, or even #1 ILB. He is THIRD team preseason AA on Phil Steele. There are four LBs per team, so he is ranked anywhere from 8-11 at LB, & 5-6 at ILB.
Athlon does not even have him on any of their three teams. Lindy's also does not have him on their teams. Only Sporting News has him 1st team.
So 3rd, NR, NR, 1st.
So he must work his way up to match Smith as a true sophomore. (Finished 3rd overall in end of season LB AA voting).

Is there anything I said that is not fair or factual? Football wise?

Congrats on doing research. But I said mark that down not bet that. Smith also came to a team that had played for a natty in the 2012 season so he came in to a good situation not like Malik. So if you want to compare that then go right ahead.

No, I'm just saying Smith was one hell of a college LB. And I think he will be All-Pro at OLB once he heals up.
I said the same thing about Zach Martin & everybody laughed. Then he became the first player since 1947 to be first team all-pro rookie lineman.

Jefferson struggled getting off blocks last year in the run game, he's going to need to significantly improve in that aspect to be an all American, which you would expect a freshman to be able to do. You also need to hope your dline develops quickly in order to keep lineman off of your linebackers. I'm not sure you have one dline an who requires a double team. Ridgeway and Jackson where able to do that some last season.

Poor play at DT can make good LBs look poor as well, quite quickly.

Having to play True Frosh heavily at both DT positions, and being a single injury away from actually starting them, isn't a good thing for an LB looking to put together an All-American season

Sure thing, dork.

Now tell us again about your objective, rational football discussions again, liar.

Like I said, the fact that you consider those to be effective insults speaks volumes about you.....not good, buddy

But yes, I've only payed fact based opinions here, which I supported and sourced with clear facts, reasons, and analysis

Yes you're SIGNIFICANTLY more talented. How fact based. Liar.

And don't call me buddy, asshole.

Except that it is fact based, and agreed on by basically every analyst (non-UT based), Vegas, ranking, etc.

But you're really starting to step up your insult game....so you've got that going for you, buddy

9-2 and about to become 10-2. Go ahead an mouth off but the record speaks for itself.

Yes it does, one of a very few teams that has owned Texas and that needs to change. When is the last time you played Ohio state? Will you beat Michigan as that team is turning it around.

You ND fellas can see the superior education of Scholz it's all in his post. UT diploma in something I guess. His game does not get any better. He's had the same weak responses for years. Every once in a while he adds one of those dictionary grabbing words too. Funny or sad?

No, significantly more talented is absolutely not fact based, liar. It's a subjective opinion. What's the line again, complete dipshit since you're quoting Vegas and saying it's lopsided?

Domers are Golden Kryptonite....

http://www.uhnd.com/football/notre-dame-texas-history-23108/

They are entitled to their higher than mighty chest thumping....

They're but 1 of very few teams with a winning record versus Texas. There are only 7 of the 126 =/- teams Texas has played over they years that carry any sort of margin of victory over Texas with at least 5 or more games played. USC and The Domers are two and yet Texas has National Titles from beating each. Hopefully Strong will have some DKR vibes come September, but the Domers love coming to Texas and taking home a victory.

He can still have the beter career all the way around..... and you do realizxe that even with as good as Steele is, he isnt the only one making lists.. and the ones i saw had Malik as a 1st teamer... so "factual" is a bit of a stretch with how you framed this... either way it goes, it was just my way of showing that our freshman AA could and very well may be better than yours.. which shows growth, and development.2 things you need to build a monster program....

You guys lose to us this year. Thats what you need to glean from all of this. ;)

Pretty sure we kicked ou's butt last year..... and also pretty sure this thread is about ND and has nothing to do with the dirt burglars..... thanks for your input and showing how you slob the preverbial knob of those who did beat us this year..... when are you going to swing from the ISU sack

It's way too early to wager on Smith versus Jefferson, but stats are comparable, early on.

Jaylon Smith as a freshman, 12 games played, 35 solo, 23 assist, 58 total, 5.5 for loss, 0 sacks, 3 passes defended, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble and 0 INT's... As a Cowboy fan, I'm a bit bummed about the Jaylon injury as it doesn't appear the nerve is healing.

Malik Jefferson Freshman campaign, 11 games played (missed last game at Baylor), 37 solo, 24 assist, 61 total, 7 for loss, 2.5 sacks, 3 passes defended, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble and 0 INT's.

Malik is a preseason 1st team All-American...I hope he has a great year!

Seems to me Malik was just a hair more active on the field... with one less game to do so in.... just based off of stats and facts....

He was as long as they'll stop standing him up against the back of the DL... Malik needs to be in space or off the edge (we didn't have anyone to free him up last year, now we have several). When they have him in these situations, he's a bad mo'fo.

the hype is real and he has also been named to the Bednarik watch list as a Sophomore all the others will follow suit, much like Jaylon in his sophomore campaign.

Not saying anything bad about Malik, more of just defending Jaylon.
I just put up the four national organizations who have preseason AA teams. 1 has him 1st, 1 has him 3rd, 2 have him NR. The AP is the official one, preseason & post season. Jaylon was 2nd team postseason as sophomore on AP at MLB even though he is a natural OLB. (Would have been 1st at OLB if you look at the votes). Then he was consensus 1st team as a junior.
So that is the standard I was referring to, postseason AA teams.

Only a football idiot wouldn't admire the talent of Malik Jefferson. He's going to be an excellent player for many years barring injury. I thought ND misused Jaylon Smith the last two seasons. I would have blitzed him more. I personally hated seeing ND cancel the last two games of the series. I've always admired Texas football, and it's good for college football when true blue bloods battle on the field. I love it when ND plays Ohio State. I thought we gave them a good tussle, considering the defense was decimated by injuries again. I can take or leave Michigan. I've never cared for them. You can't play everybody unless they do away with conferences. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Since the other thread got locked I couldn't respond. I looked it up to see about the most drafted players from one game. It's still '66 ND/MSU. Second is OSU/Miami 2002, third was Texas/USC.

According to the article, all 17 draft eligible players who started were drafted in the first 3 rounds of '67. There were only 26 teams but still 7 of the first round picks were from that game. So every 3.5 first round picks was from that game.
The NFL joked the game was the NFL combine that year.
Over 40 players would be drafted when eligible.

Oh, am I late?
