Historic win against the Irish!!!

......and 4mn.....man....if winning a game with a true freshman center and a true freshman QB playing their first game of college...on National TV...in front of 103,000 screaming fans...against a highly touted opponent....if winning that game pisses you off that much I suggest you find something to do on Saturdays besides watch football. This year is gonna be rough on you.

So let me get this straight. An OU team that many suspected were overrated got their teeth kicked in by Houston, and an Aggie team that did their very best to lose a game and in fact only got to go to overtime because of a fluke, have fans coming to this site to tell us why this wasn't a great win. Aggie, congrats, you will have a new coach next year. Your team looks as bad as it ever has since Sumlin got the job. Sooners, we have mangled you two of the past three years and outplayed you in the game we lost.
At what point was it decided that ND's offense isn't good? They were supposed to be able to run over anyone and have two great QB options. You know what offense didn't look good, the Sooners and Aggies.

We still don't have a DL that can get any pressure and the ND OL did a great job of chipping blitzes and Kizer was hitting the holes left by the blitz. No DBs can keep coverage for 5 seconds.

All those that bitch about Haines should take note that the D gave up 7 points in the first half with him QBing the D and 31 points in the second half after Haines went down.
I for one, hope Haines recovers quickly and returns to the field. But I think he and Perk need to take next Saturday off.

Some cannot remove their orange glasses and see our defense for what it is. What's new?
Because I'm not ready to declare the defense as "unimproved" after one game I have orange colored glasses on? Don't think so

You mentioned in the game thread that we needed Tom Herrman. Now look I'm as big a tom Herrman fan as there is but if your main gripe is defense why are you so certain that he will fix the defense?

Like I said there are going to be people and you appear to be one that's just going to complain because they are not going to get what they wanted. As I've said in other threads 8 wins seems like the floor for this team. No way he gets fired after 8-10 wins I'm not even sure you'd want the current administration leading a football search anyway.

It was a good win yes. A great win and of the best in CFB history? Good grief no. ND looks like a solid team but not a top 10 team and I'm guessing this won't be their only loss. Lack of offense will be their downfall. Texas SHOULD go into the RRR undefeated and Oklahoma might have 3 losses.

What about it was not great? It wasn't a dominant win, but as far as thrilling games on big stages, it doesn't get much better outside of bowl season

It was a win vs a solid team. Was it exciting? Sure. It wasn't one of the best games in CFB history. Texas fan or not, you gotta admit that going a bit too far lol. Horn01 do you agree that Nd will end up with atleast a couple more losses?

yea greatest game of all time is dumb, because we all know the greatest game of all time was Texas vs USC national championship game.
I think Texas has some match up advantages that most of the teams ND plays will not have. The combination of track speed on the outside and 250 pound running backs isn't what they are going to see week in and week out. I can see them as a 10-2 team.

He said ONE of not the greatest of all time. It's up there as one of many. Two historic teams going at it with 102K people watching and it went into dbl overtime. It was great Sunday enterainment but I'm sure our rivals yawned the whole time.

It wasn't even one of the greatest lol. Maybe top 1000? Sure. And I watched most of the game and thought it was exciting

Hang on,Many players on the Defensive side of the ball have been recruited but may need to be redshirted or need more time to develop. This is year 3 under Strong and players his first year were not recruited by him.He did not have much in the cookie jar when he got here, did He?

This. He has 2 classes to his name at Texas. We have to get pressure with the front 4 to be an elite defense. Strong was able to address the issue by bringing in 7 DLs in this class. 4 of those guys played; Wilbon, Daniels, Roach, and Elliott. Elliott played a lot. An elite DE for 2017 gave his verbal commitment today.

I think you should stop posting here until your amazing level of butthurt goes away... yeah we know it makes you upset that yall got exposed and we beat ND when you all thought we were going to get smashed and yall were going to win - but the thing is, nobody here CARES what you think sooner trolltard... gettng tired of seeing your backhanded compliments and slights you think are slick coming out in eachand every post you make recently.... kick rocks and go back to your own board

It was the second highest rated game of opening weekend in the past 11 years. It was the highest rated game of the weekend. ESPN estimates that over 10 million people watched it. But sure, there have been thousands of better games.

Soldier please stop dude lol you aren't even making sense. 1. I picked Houston to beat Oklahoma. 2. I've stated many times it makes the RRR much more enjoyable when both teams have a good record and/or good team. Hopefully Ou can pull it together and hold up their end of the bargain

#1. Just bc you picked them to win doesnt mean it doesnt burn your butt up that ou lost... so dont try to act like it doesnt bother you....#2 I agree with.

We are still gona smash you tards in October though. ;)

The no targeting call is still a mystery to me, and not making excuses but seriously I didn't understand it. I thought it was targeting when it first happened and then in slow motion was sure of it.

Was the no-call on the obvious helmet-to-helmet late hit on Buechele by Rochell on the INT a mystery to you too, objective aggy?

Wonder why no one cares to bring that one up...

Man the desperation to try to diminish this win is so pathetic it's amusing. A targeting no call. Really? That's the best ya got?

This is an ND fan who got tired of calling for the defensive coordinator's head on the ND board. I have to congratulate you guys on a great game and wish you the best of luck the rest of the way. A lot of us remember Strong when he was an assistant at ND and have followed his career knowing he is a no-nonsense type of guy with the balls to do what he believes is right.
As for the Aggie poster, he does not know what the hell he is talking about. ND's offense is going to be one of the best in the country now that Kelly has figured out what we knew all along, that Kizer is the man, and we should be able to score at will. The problem with this team, as you guys saw, is the defense, and it really has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with a defensive coordinator that is completely oblivious to what is going on in the field. We lack fundamentals, can't tackle, and everyone looks confused presnap because his defenses are so damn confusing. What has been intimated several times is that there is little time to practice fundamentals like tackling because practice is filled with trying to teach the million variations his defense has.
Anyways, I was impressed with your team, and it looks like Strong is turning a corner. You guys played with all the passion you lacked last year. You have a gamer with that Freshmen at QB, and albeit very young, you have some really talented high ranking recruits that are starting to make some plays. Good luck the rest of the year. I hope in the future, our schools can get some more games together on the schedule. Always good to see a Texas-ND game.

ABC revised the viewing numbers. They now say there were over 11 million viewers, which makes it most watched season opener EVER. Just another game though.

Big freakin deal lol. It was on a Sunday night with no other games to compete with. It was a good game, I enjoyed watching it as an Ou fan. I love college football. However let's quit the nonsense of building it up to be a life changer lol. Good game, great finish. It's only week 1

Desperation? It was a critical play of the game. There wouldn't have been overtime. You dodged a bullet. Read the rest. Nothing to diminish. Texas played well. Buechele played well. I was just curious as to why it wasn't called and really curious why it wasn't reviewed. Dont make it more than it is.

It would have had high ratings regardless of what day it was on.... and yeah it is only week one. Texas is 1-0 knocking off a top 10 team and ou is 0-1 losing to #13 while being ranked #3.. I can understand why you dont wanna focus on just one game at the moment....

now if you are done trying to take away from this win for Texas feel free to leave.

To say there wouldnt have been overtime shows you to be naive.. I do find it amazing that you have such foresight to know what exactly would have happened based off of 1 friggin call going differently..... leave it to an aggy to diminish a Texas win by finding any argument they can make up.... I hope we catch you losers in a bowl and crush you... but your gutless AD and the SEC commish will make sure that you dont have to play us.. just like they did a cpl years back......

So in your estimation ND should have been awarded points for what you saw as targeting, and the game should have ended right then? I'm not aware of that rule. Also, you realize that what actually sent the game to overtime was a freakish blocked PAT return for safety. It was ND that was fortunate to get to overtime.

You are right, the game was on a unique stage, which is part of the reason people feel it was more than just a "solid win"

Just so we're clear, you plan to completely ignore my question about the no-call on the helmet-to-helmet late hit on Buechele at a critical point in the game (and the existence of this no-call altogether), yes?

Nd won't finish in the top 20....just saying

Ou might not either... dont you have anything better to do than to try and downplay the Texas win while ignoring the ou loss? Im sure you would be more welcomed with this line of posting on soonerscoop or some other trash site that caters to haters like you.

I love the aggys and $ooners grinding their teeth over this win. Makes it all the sweeter. :D
Im usually not one to engage trolls but the fact that they are so frustrated is entertaining. Everybody in the country just watched us run past, and run over, a top 10 team. It was a massive spectacle and they can't stand it. i guess the Aggies can celebrate that win, but it ceartainly didn't inspire any confidence. The Sooners, well, that was just flat out bad.

No one ridicules and gets on the Oklahoma players and coaches more than me and you guys know that. At the same time I'm not gonna build the Texas/Nd game to be something it wasn't lol. It was a good win vs a good ND team. It was also week 1. As I've gotten older I've learned not to get real high or real low because each week is different. You had one fan say " we are winning the big 12" and another state it was one of best games ever in college football. Now to me? That's silly. That's not trashing you guys or trolling anyone but rather me just speaking as a fan with common sense.

Also I've stated Ou could be 1-3 heading into RRR...what else you want me to say? Lol.

Sure I guess that one was as well. I don't think it was as obvious or as pivotal. I honestly don't remember, did Texas score on that drive or not? I'm not saying either one was or wasn't but last year you couldn't fart on anyone without getting a targeting call and that was as blatant as you could get and no call. Just wondering what the rule is. Texas deserved to win. Just trying to understand the call
