Honest question

DE will either keep outside contain and force the running back inside or they will spill and make a guy bounce outside depends on scheme and if you have backers that can run guys down before they can turn the corner. Garrett is a hell of a player and would have been a top 5 pick this year but he did run himself out of run plays from time to time.

Poor rush defense was due to both young DTS and LBs. You can't blame rush defense on DEs. The pass rush was certainly above average. There's no doubt the rush defense needs to improve but it's naive to put that on the DEs, especially when any option runs were shut down
A DE is not supposed to let anyone OUTSIDE of him. That is football 101.

And also, I just heard rumors so don't shoot the messenger, that lagarryon carson was a high grade risk. Is there any validity to that or is it just smoke? Texas obviously has higher academic standards than a place like baylor so it made me curious
That's why it is so surprising UT took the 4 refugees from Baylor. Bite me.

Texas has huge issues and strict rules with transferring in. And it isn't easy as a frosh to make it in, but a lot easier than xferring from Juco or the likes.

All of those 4 frosh were heavily recruited by Texas and a bunch of other schools.

The shocking part to the BU story, was what BU was doing. Don't be mad that a few kids found Texas as a soft landing spot in the aftermath of your staffs actions/inactions.

Lighten up Francis. I bear no grudge with these guys going to UT, and I wish them well. The OP suggested that Baylor has light academic standards, but somehow these 4 transfers managed to get into UT.

I am pretty light and feeling fresh today.

Just giving my two cents. That is how these messageboards work. Sorry if it hit a soft spot.

Lets be clear, it is much harder for a STUDENT to get into Texas than Baylor. For a STUDENT-ATHLETE, the gap is much narrower. Texas does force the athletes to adhere to the minimum SAT/ACT scores and foreign language requirements, which I think is the main difference between Texas and other schools. (With that said, no one could ever get into Texas as a non athlete just by getting the minimum SAT score and taking high-school Spanish)
