How did ND have so much success running the ball against A&M?

The aggy front 7 is easily the strength of that team, and should be one of the best in the country. Their secondary is suspect, and I thought they’d be vulnerable to Leonard using his legs to evade pressure and then getting beat deep-ish.

They were in Leonard’s face all night (at least what I watched… which was little more than the first half), but he never really connected downfield for much at all.

On the other hand, they had a good bit of success with outside running plays. With a super green OL paving the way.

Can someone explain what happened?
