Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (I'm very, very confident about the 2024 Horns...)

Great stuff @Ketchum. As for the Eagles, what a crazy, hard band they are to rank. I thought about it several times, and depending on my mood there are songs that could be interchangeable inside the top 10, last 5 out, and just missed the cut.

It's a fun list to TRY and do.

No kidding. Typically I can get through one of your lists and while not a huge music fan I have a solid top 5-7. This was impossible for me, but maybe meant to be listened to while enjoying some Rogue shop treat, amirite @OMGanja? Have you ever done Metallica?

The next time I see the Eagles referred to as “the greatest American band” is when I cancel my OB subscription.

They might not make a top ten list but try and love again by Randy and After the thrill is gone still bring a chill every time I put in a CD or catch a deep cut on radio!

Was in Todos Santos in Baja and took a tour of the town and ended up at Hotel Californis there. Tour guide said the Eagles never stayed there, but we saw hundreds of people taking pictures in front of it. Our guide asked us if we knew what the song was about, and we said sure, it was about California culture. He, a lifetime resident of Dos Santos, said it was about addiction. Blew me away, and when you listen to it knowing that, it changes how you view the song. Their best by far.

Too many mescals - forgot the To
I wish I could remember where I learned the story behind HC but I have heard it several times. Supposedly the story involves one of the band's family members.

Jimmy Buffet opened for the Eagles at Jeppesen Stadium in Houston in 1978. Buffet was laughing about the blue haze coming from all of us sitting on the field. It was one hell of a night.

I could be wrong here, but I don't think the rest of the Beach Boys had anything to do with Pet Sounds, other than dubbing in their voices later.
That was entirely a Brian Wilson creation.
Good point. However Carl & Dennis Wilson made lots of significant songwriting contributions going forward (i.e.Sunflower). Keep in mind though that Pet Sounds isn't Pet Sounds without those trademark Beach Boys harmonies and Carl's lead on God Only Knows.

Eagles greatest Hits was the first Album, er eight track I bought for my green Pinto wagon with green shag carpet.
Ah to be 17 again...

Depends on how you value the bye vs a home game as a 14+ pt favorite.

Path to win championship

1 seed:
Bye
6th ranked team
3rd ranked team
2nd ranked team

5 seed:
20ish ranked G5 at home
10-15th ranked big 12 champ
Top ranked team
2nd ranked team

Gotta love the Pinto with green shag carpet! The good Ol'e days when cars actually had a personality.

We are in alignment. Texas is on track to end up with a damn good year of talent acquisition when all is said and done. Also, I have said in another thread that I feel the wheels coming off this year for the Cowboys. Just a feeling.
Without a doubt the wheels come off for the Cows. The lack of personnel management and zero running game will finally end their delusional thinking that they have a championship competitive team.

I’m good with it, and I don’t know exactly what that says about me. Probably that I’ve reached apathy and that’s the worst place to be as a fan. I just want to feel something again.

I wonder how many Aggie recruits are already rethinking their decision. If the fighting Irish win 9 games or more then maybe this klunker could be explained but if they finish less than 9 wins against a mediocre schedule or get blow out by USC or Florida State then A&M has real problems. That offense looked terrible, and the defense will wear down as season progresses!

JD Souther is from Wellington in the Panhandle and graduated from Amarillo Tascosa before Linda Ronstadt dragged him to Laurel Canyon.
He wrote a lot of the songs with Glenn Frey (eg New Kid in Town etc)
RIP JD
He passed away yesterday.
