On August 12, “Everytown for Gun Safety” pushed for more gun control in the wake of the Charlottesville, Virginia, rally where some attendees were run over by a car.
CNN reported that one attendee was killed and 19 were injured after the driver of a car, 20-year-old James Alex Fields Jr., allegedly rammed into the crowd at the rally.
In the wake of the tragic event, the political advocacy organization Everytown for Gun Safety decided to focus on the open carry gun laws in Virginia and the fact that some attendees were openly armed.
