Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Permission to dream big...j/k... kind of)

Texas went on to lose the next week at home to Arkansas in embarrassing fashion, so part of the moral of this column will be to remind everyone that life can come at you fast in college football and just when you think Mount Everest has been climbed, along comes Matt Jones to remind you that an awesome performance can become completely forgotten in less than a week.

And V f’n Y sat the entire 60 f’n minutes.

Not even the 2008 and 2009 Longhorns made me quite think some of the things that crossed my mind on Saturday during and following the destruction of a perfectly fine but overwhelmed Colorado State team. That's not to say that this 2024 edition of the Longhorns is better than those teams. Hell, the 2003 team that I just referenced ended up losing by 52 points to the Sooners.

Both those teams in 2008/2009 were relatively limited in offensive talent.

(Sell) Both will be drafted. Neither has proven they deserved to be 5-stars, although Klubnick delivers the ball like one. He chose the wrong school.

Neither at this point looks legitimately draftable. Maybe that changes. But neither is very good. On the flipside neither was Gilbert and someone took a late rd flyer on him

Loved the write up and all the comments, replies. What Sark has/is building seems really special. All the coaches post Brown era just couldn’t get it done. It’s good to be a Longhorn fan.

Sark seems to really thrive where so many are struggling in this new NIL/portal era. He has it figured out and I believe college football coaches have the hardest jobs in all of sports. Sark has learned. Plus it is his make up from past mistakes he has learned from. Sark seems special!

It really feels like it’s coming together.

I hope his play calling continues to evolve. I would love to see more creativity, when needed, and not forth and goal at the cotton bowl replay. I really thought at the time he believed in his oline and was proving it to them. Didn’t work out, in that moment.

Let’s win this week! Let’s beat OU this year and get to the Georgia game undefeated! That would really set the stage for a titan matchup energy!

I am looking forward to being in The Big House for this one! HOOK EM!!!

Missed one of the transfers. Need a shout out to Hudson Card. 24-25. 273 yds and 4 TDs (albeit against Larry Bird’s old school)
I just did the transfers from this past transfer season.

Michigan game is feeling like Texas/Ohio St 2006. Michigan should get more than seven points but this feels like a 27-17 type game. Nice write up, have you considered a top ten list of your all time movies?

Sorry if answered, didn’t read all comments.

100% agree about the 2006 Ohio State game.

A top 10 all-time movie list might be too much for me. lol

Your Gere list, you have Primal Fear ranked correct. It might rank higher as an overall movie, but it’s an Ed Norton movie, but Gere plays a great role. Officer and a Gentleman, wow, most 4get this movie is 42 years old. My top two most played back movie scenes on YT are Officer and Good Will Hunting. The chemistry between Gossett and Gere is so incredible. The I won’t forget you sir, geeze, I’m not crying, you are.

Slow time of the year, I hope you venture into your top ten. For me the two above, Raiders, Wonderful Life, Usual Suspects, Shawshank, Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, Apocalypse Now, Heat…..just to get you started, wink….cheers!

It was CSU but I came away from the game with 3 thoughts.
1) might be the 2nd best team I've seen in my 28 seasons with season tickets in section 29.
2) telling folks who pretend 2008 or 2009 was "glory" that our backup qb is better than that starting qb ever dreamed of being wasn't popular in the stands.
3) this Horns team has heart and finish and they've bought in. I haven't seen an entire team buy in, outside of last year in probably 15 years.

Great time to be a Longhorn!
I completely agree and I this is my 28th year with season tickets, from row 1 of section 104.

Ryan Williams had a really strong first game for Bama as a 17-year-old. He’ll look great in burnt orange next year.

Michigan DTs vs Texas IOL.
Michigan DTs are both high NFL draft guys.

I think that was never the case. I thought milroe looked pretty good against Texas. Something else was going on their. If Bama were playing a legit sec team instead of usf, milroe would have been starting.

Wasn't he the hamster dude?
This. Milroe was benched because he did not take well to hard coaching during and after the Texas game. It was a disciplinary thing, and Saban thought he could teach Milroe and his team a lesson without losing to FAU. And Saban was so adamant and stubborn to make his point that he was willing to lose to FAU rather than take Milroe off the discipline in order to win the game. Saban said as much last year..

I think Texas goes up 10+ and Michigan panics.
Any similarities to Ohio state in 2005?

Michigan playing 2 QBs and elite defense just like OSU. Just don’t have Gin, Holmes, or Gonzalez as weapons.

Geoff, how's Robert "Bobby" Burton doing?

Let's go ahead and get the elephant out of the room. I'm going to call you a name. Geo, you are a Geo Washington.

And lastly, a source of mine told me that last Saturday, Colorado State's Troy Horton heard a Hoot!!!

He said this time last year. That was the first game. Your talking about the 3rd game.
If you don't play the QB who started Game 1 and 2 for you AT ALL in Game 3, and he wasn't injured, you weren't sure of your QB situation.

I don’t think our speed has Michigan worried. They have seen it a bunch the past 4 years with OSU and keep hitting them in the mouth until they give.

They will try the same against us this year. Our defense better come ready to be a wall and stand up.

Last year Michigan had the ability to hit the deep pass when needed. I don’t remember their intermediate passing game being that strong.

They started and played 2 different QBs while Milroe sat in the game immediately following the Texas loss last season. They were not sure who their QB was....
Wrong. It was a disciplinary benching. Saban said so at the time.

This isn't last year's Michigan team. Not nearly as talented, especially on offense.

Their defense is still solid, but they aren't scaring anyone with that offense.

You were sure at that time. That's my point.

Correct. Also, this maybe giving Saban too much credit - but there were boos in the second half of the Texas game. The fans were already turning on Milroe and I think Saban wanted to give them a look at what was on the bench to shut them up. Bama is soooooo spoiled.
