Cliff-notes: The Longhorns picked up commitment No.4 for the 2020 class on Saturday when St. Louis (MO) Trinity Catholic athlete Teriyon "Mookie" Cooper committed to Tom Herman and his staff.
Rankings: Cooper is currently rated as mid four-star prospect, the No.2 overall prospect in the state of Missouri and is ranked as the No.6 athlete in the nation.
Key Offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State and Wisconsin.
Evaluation: Pound for pound, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better football-playing-sonofagun than Cooper, who walks onto every football field in the state of Missouri as the dude carrying a Jules Winfield special edition wallet. Cooper just makes dominating look very easy. As an offensive talent, his skill set allows him to be the kind of guy that can strike terror in the heart of a defense every time he touches the ball, whether it's on a jet sweep, catch in the flat or a downfield throw. At 5-10, 182 pounds, I'm not sure there's anyone specific element of his physical attributes that jumps out on film as much as it's the entire package of gifts rolled into one. Whatever he needs, he seems to be able to do. What makes him even more valuable as a prospect is his upside on the defensive side of the ball, as well as on the offensive side of the ball. Should Cooper choose defense, he'd rank as a high-level cornerback prospect with the kind of upside to one day play there beyond Saturdays.
UT player he reminds me of: Duke Thomas
Why it matters: Because he's really, really good. Simple as that. He's one of those guys that you offer and figure it out later if you have to.
