Cliffs notes: Longview defensive lineman Sawyer Goram-Welch became the 17th member of the 2020 Texas recruiting class when he announced his commitment.

Rankings:

Key Offers: Once an Oklahoma State commitment, Goram-Welch also holds offers from Illinois, Purdue, Texas Tech and SMU.

Evaluation: Listed at 6-4, 285 pounds, the newest Texas commitment packs a punch. Whether he’s coming out of his stance or is engaged with an offensive lineman, Goram-Welch’s strength consistently makes an impact and is often too much for the opposing player. While it sounds like Goram-Welch is being look at most by Texas at end, he has the size, strength, and versatility to play multiple spots across the defensive line. You can see the young defensive lineman use his hands in an advanced way occasionally, and he possesses some potential that could be tapped into.

Why it matters: The Longhorns entered today with just one commitment from a defensive lineman. Goram-Welch’s size, strength, and versatility could allow him to fit multiple styles of defense.
