Jeremy Clark of Horned Frog Blitz reported Friday that TCU offensive lineman James Brockermeyer will enter the transfer portal after only one season with the Horned Frogs. Brockermeyer started all 12 regular season games at center and received an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention for his efforts this season. The former All Saints Episcopal standout began his collegiate career at Alabama, where he spent three seasons before transferring to TCU. Brockermeyer’s brother, Tommy, also came to TCU before medically retiring.
It’s a significant loss for the TCU offensive line, which has already seen veteran offensive lineman Marcus Williams enter the transfer portal after six seasons with the Horned Frogs. TCU did sign former Incarnate Word offensive lineman Rasheed Jackson, but should Brockermeyer remain in the portal and not return, Coltin Deery would be a candidate to take over as the team’s starting center. Brockermeyer was a four-star recruit at All Saints Episcopal in Fort Worth, where he was rated the No. 1 center in the country by ESPN.
