I would trust a junior in high school before Swoopes. Seriously.
If Mad Max Fury Road is one of the five best movies, the movie industry is in a slump. It was okay, I didnt walk out on it, but it's not one I'll ever watch again unless I'm extremely bored, nothing else is on, and I'm too wide awake to take a nap. Take away the 3D glasses and it was pretty meh.
we can get vertical with Heard, assuming we run the hell out of the ball. But agree that Swoopes has the bigger arm for a deep ball for Burt to run under.
That. And everyone appeared to like Charlie. Who was the poster that was saying Charlie didn't connect with the Cumbies? That was obviously off base
You missed the most important reporting. Dec 12 OB mods report Cumbie was not the first choice but was imposed on poor Charlie who really wanted Giblet. Dec 12 Ob reports Charlie had authority to offer X to Giblet and the admins reneged and offered a lower price. Dec. 13 Giblet was told by admins Charlie has a guaranteed deal through 017....optics and narratives, don't forget those. Ketch those were none of your works but if they are true they are really bad. Do you stand by them?

You're not that much older than me but I'm beginning to believe I might be in the same boat. That comment about Fences and Perrin looking Gilbert in the eye and guaranteeing that Strong would be back after 2016 just about made me puke all over myself. We're just sinking further into the abyss.
How come I knew ( and many others on OB ) that getting in tight with Texas high school coaches, heavily recruiting THIS state AND 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense wouldn't work in this Big 12 conference 2 years ago BUT the newly hired 5M a year coach didn't see that til now???????

So Swoopes is the favorite of the coaches now even though the new OC has yet to be in Austin 2 days? LOL Or the fact the he was the back-up since Week 2 until the Heard injury before Baylor. If Swoopes is (which I highly doubt) the favorite of the coaches now, it's the coaches that won't be running the offense and making the QB decision. I guarantee Gilbert doesn't have a favorite yet.
OB's back on the Swoopes train, you guys never learn...not surprising in the least. His arm strength may fit the new offense better, but his arm was never the problem. It's the accuracy and other QB intangibles that set and kept his ceiling this low for the last 2 seasons. Stick with the 18-wheeler and let's find a real QB to run this show. If Swoopes leads this charge it's 7-6 max and Strong as is good as looking for work this time next year.
Yeah let's bring in new blood, get all excited for an offensive resurgence, and then go warming up a stale, leftover bologna sandwich at QB. Swoopes starting Week 1 against ND? Already seen that movie...it bombed. Not gonna happen again. If so, Strong will deserve what he'll get at season's end.

You mentioned the win over UTA as showing what they were capable of.
I actually thought the UTSA game was much more powerful and impactful. It was a HUGE confidence builder and a game in which I saw Ridley start to treat rebounding the ball like it was fast food on his cheat days! I hadn't seen that consistent nastiness from him until then.
I think that game was the perfect warm up for the UNC game. (I didn't think we would win though!)

Swoopes hits maybe 10% of his deep balls,not very accurate at all.
I was very meh on Cumbie with the exception of his recruiting talents... Honestly found it risky compared to Gilbert.
I am ecstatic about the Gilbert hire. I prefer the Baylor offense 10-fold over the horned-frog hybrid. JMO... I'm not sure there could've been a better hire outside of talking Hermann into a lateral move from Cougar High HC

Good write-up except the one thing you failed to recap that your team had reported on all along was that Gilbert was always Charlie's personal first choice - not Cumbie; and that Cumbie had been the choice the Administration/ubiquitous powers that be. So he was targeted first. But things happened as they should, and Charlie got his first choice in Gilbert-,which appears without a doubt to be the perfect hire for Texas in every way. Not to say anything negative about Cumbie, but the natural fit with the program and Austin wasn't there with Cumbie. And Sterlin really admires and wants to work with Strong. He feels privileged to be getting the chance to work with Strong, as he has great respect for his coaching abilities and is excited about what they can accomplish with this team working closely together.
Yeah, it's not going to happen, but Swoopes starting next year gets Strong fired.
Really? After a redshirt year Locksley still not ready to compete? I hope you're wrong, he already had his year to sit back and learn. It's time to jump into the competition or switch positions. Throw Shane Buechele into the competition as well, I think he's that good that he could come in and be at least a DECENT QB for us. Look at what Baylor's Jarrett Stidham did as a true freshman, and Shane's just as good if not better throwing IMO. I just don't think Swoopes or Heard are the answer.
He did recap that. He said that on Nov. 30th, OB reporter Anwar Richardson reported that Strong had identified Sonnie Cumbie as his #1 choice.
Not a word about the Texas volleyball team? Weak. That is one consistently reforming program. Another final 4 in something of a re-tooling year.

Such a good hoops win. One thing to talk about having a team play fast, loose and aggressive. But there it was to see - for the entire game.

Excellent point. Is Atkins still expected back by the beginning of conference play? She is a heck of a talent to add to an undefeated top 5 team.
