Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (Reliving the search all over again)

Just an absolute home run for you this week Ketch and the entire team!!!

we can get vertical with Heard, assuming we run the hell out of the ball. But agree that Swoopes has the bigger arm for a deep ball for Burt to run under.
The longest pass in UT history was by Major Applewhite, not famous for a big arm. Scheme, timing, and receiver are all bigger factors than arm strength. Chris Simms had a cannon but didn't throw a great deep ball. My bigger concerns are QB reads and accuracy and receiver reliability.

Aston was a lazy hire by Chris P. Sheesh. Run her ass off!! Lazy. Coasting.

Suddenly, the Longhorns are ranked in the top five and have posted a better resume thus far than anyone ranked ahead of it, including No. 1 U.Conn.

you trying to make some kind of a point here? The fact you mentioned Longhorns and U.Conn in the same sentence, shows me you know very little about women's basketball.

I think the point is pretty clear. They have the best early resume of anyone in the top 5.

Maybe I need to work on my women's hoops and you need to work on reading comprehension?

It depends on who Texas thinks it can get, specifically the BMDs. If a guy like Saban were on the hook like in 2013, the politics that existed back then aren't in play IMO to pull it off. The reason Perrin was kept for two years is so that if Charlie fails, a replacement is put into place and those that were froze out last time and have been working behind the scenes so hard to get a monster, don't get froze out.

We just had to fly our President up to Tulsa, Oklahoma to secure an OC candidate.

When it comes to hiring the head coach, I put the chances at 0% at our ability to secure any known A LIst candidate such as Saban, John Harbaugh, Chip Kelly, etc. Our braintrust would screw that up even if it's sitting in our lap.

That's why Texas must bring in another option and really needed to each of the last four years.

I might have missed this earlier, but at this point, neither of the two QBs brought in the 2015 class, Locksley or Merrick, are considered viable options for 2016?

If that's the case, that's an even bigger indictment of Strong.

a. Locksley is a project that many inside the program believe ends up at WR
b. Merrick is a super great young man, but Watson wasn't authorized to make that offer and I don't think many believe he'll ever be a factor. I don't know where he gets the reps.

Saban was ready to go in 2013 if the political landscape had been different. Don't underestimate wealthy dudes.

Whoa! First I had heard of that. Did Watson really wander off the reservation to do his own thing without getting the approval of his boss? First time that this has happened?

Yes, in this instance he did. It was described as a panic move by those inside the program and if you understand this, you'll better understand why the situation played out the way it did over the course of 7 or 8 months. Again, he's a GREAT young man, but it was a recruiting gaffe by Watson.
