Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (A playoff team is getting a lot better)

No one said they wouldn't fight. You made that up. The talent they are working with is deceasing annually

dumpster fire is just that....wake me when we are up 30 on OU in the 4th quarter. Its happened 4 times maybe. No doubt they are challenged but have watched 45 of them....we have a way of playing down to their level.

OU isnt firing on all cyclinders but watch the 'dumpster fire' play us to within in 10 points going into the 4th quarter.

the idea that OU wont have talent and wont fight us to the end is pure rubbish.

The Ohio state approach led to multiple all conference players including their starting qb and all American safety. You have built this up to be a similar off season for the Horns. If you think the results so far confirm similar commitment to the portal between the 24 buckeyes and 25 horns … do you think they have landed any all conference players (or better)? Or is this still a bit about what you’re hearing through the grapevine that is ongoing?
Reading comprehension is not your friend. You are making up things that Ketch didn't say or imply. You are bringing the 2024 Ohio State team into this conversation. Stop while you're behind.

Good stuff.

1. The only notable loss Texas has faced in the transfer portal has been Sydir Mitchell. That's impressive.

2. Texas doesn't need a CB but you're right - if the right one is available, it is what it is.

3. Arch Manning quietly killing it this spring is impressive.

4. OU is playing Moneyball in the SEC, and that's not a winning formula.

5. Would love to see Texas add men's soccer in 10 years. Probably a pipe dream.

6. Amazing season by Liverpool. Hopefully, Arsenal can win the Champions League.

7. Damon in the Bourne series or Tom Cruise in 007?

I do like that movie. Carlin was awesome.

1. Maybe NiBlack. Mitchell is actually having a solid camp with the Tigers from what I have read.

b. agreed

c. Very

4. agreed. maybe in the Big 12.

5 agreed

6. Go PSG. Sorry. Arsenal fans do my head in.

7. Damon as Bourne

"For months, I've reported that my sourcing was relaying to me that Texas would be "all-in on 2025" in the same fashion Ohio State was all-in on 2024"
I don't think that sentence is doing what you think it is.

Fair. My assumption is if you are reporting info from a source that either...
A. The source(s) have enough credibility that you think their word carries a lot of value
B. The info from the source matches what you already were thinking was gonna happen

So my thought is that your reporting...
"we got a chance to see what that would look like in its execution this week. Texas wasn't just ready to strike in the Portal market. It was ready strike, pounce and maim."

Was that you believe this week has shown that the source was correct.

Dang... I love the first two on that list. That scene in We Bought a Zoo where he shows his kids the place he first saw their mom... gets me every single time.

Like I said, I watch the hell out of those movies, but by every metric they aren’t very good movies

* Cole Brevard - Rivals (No. 92 overall/No. 4 DT), 247 (No. 100 overall/No. 15 DT), On3 (No.103 overall/No.4 DT)

* Travis Shaw - Rivals (No. 161 overall/No. 7 DT), 247 (No. 112 overall/No. 17 DT), On3 (No.173 overall/N0.13 DT)

* Hero Kanu - Rivals (No. 385 overall/No. 27 DT), 247 (No. 205 overall/No. 31 DT), On3 (No.372 overall/No.27 DT)

* Lavon Johnson - Rivals (Not yet ranked), 247 (No. 207 overall/No. 32 DT), On3 (Not yet ranked

You used ON3's composite rankings and not their personal rankings. These are there personal rankings:

*Cole Brevard - On3 (No. 212 overall/No. 10 DT)

* Travis Shaw - On3 (UR overall/ No. 56 DT)

* Hero Kanu - On3 (UR overall/No. 63 DT)

* Lavon Johnson - On3 (Not yet ranked)

a. Yes.
b. More A than B.

I think this is all about attitude and approach. Ohio State took a by any means needed approach to building the 2024 team. It meant committing more money to NIL than anyone would have guessed.

They just decided that one way or the other, they'll figure it out.

Texas took care of the majority of its business before other schools even had a visit it. That costs money. That took excellent planning. That took outright aggression.

They don't have the money accounted for. They are writing checks that will bounce if attempted to be cashed today.

Ugh.

Well, we have beat them soundly in two of the last three years and talent disparity is growing.

We will be their biggest game and as always, they will be pumped but I think our culture will prevent us from having a lapse in attention. We should win and I hope handily.

In two of the last 3 games, Texas has outscored them 83-3.

113-37 in the last 3 years.
yep and includes a 49 point blow out. interestingly, we lost one of those 3 games and have lost 11 since 2010 including a B12 championship game.

The dirt balls have owned us this century....when we rattle off 5 consecutive wins against them, which hasn't happened since DKR was roaming the practice field, I will happily dance around the OU dumpster fire. They look down and surely are relative to our recent success, but we have exactly a 1 game win streak against the turds. Dumpster fire...I guess.

What happened for almost all of this century just doesn't matter in 2025.

They didn't fight much in 2022 and last year they were only in the game briefly because Quinn was missing open receivers.

Great list.

Top 5 Damon VERY mediocre movies I still watch over and over and love

Legend of Bagger Vance
We Bought a Zoo
Elysium
Invictus
Titan A.E
There is one that I can watch over and over again--The Good Shepherd. It has average reviews, but I love it. I think Daman is great in it.

that is a fantastic Damon list @Ketchum

I really thought he was awesome in True Grit, and I could maybe squeeze it in at 7-10, but its really hard to argue with that list, and honestly, the Bourne films in top3 - I'm good.

Might be my most consensus positive opinions any list I've ever done has created!

Is the Syracuse DT still available in the portal? What about the BYU WR/PR?

Never mind...just saw the other article talking about it. Apparently still unknown.

Euro Trip is there for fun but I’ll stand behind the 4
Not sure how many saw Euro Trip. Probably not one of Damon's best since he had a limited part, but he was very funny. Silly movie, but with some really funny scenes.

I saw it when it came out and haven't seen it since.
