Kyler Murray Contract

Did anybody see the clause they put in it? He has a clause to where he has to watch 4 hours of film a week. If you have to put that clause in your franchise QBs contract then why are you even signing him?

There’s been some stories that have came out about him the last season and they don’t paint him in a good picture. Sounds like he has a work ethic and entitlement problem. He got by his whole life on god give ability. That doesn’t work in the NFL unless you put the work in. I have had a hatred for him since he blew Sam off after losing the RRS.

In their last playoff game he refused to go back in late in the 4th when the game was already decided. Not a guy I would want leading my team.

To me, he has a lazy work ethic. He thinks he's seen it all and knows it all. In his mind, he's run the air raid offense his whole life and doesn't need to watch film.

The 1st thing I thought was:

Dude has a horrible haircut.

I mean seriously. Does he not own a mirror? You can't tell me that when he's brushing his teeth in the morning, he looks at himself and thinks that looks good. He needs to spend some of that money on a personal stylist or something.

Bruh......you don't got to look good when you got a fat bank account..........

Jesus Christ the guy just signed a $230 million dollar contract but from reading this thread you’d think the guy got cut LOL.

It's telling though that the Cards had to put a clause in his contract that he HAS to watch film four hours a week. There's a reason why they put that in the contract, and it's not a good look for Murray.

Perhaps but at $160 mil. Guaranteed I doubt he cares nor would I. You could put any language in a contract I’d like to see what language they used as a repercussion, I’d be willing to bet there are none. Who’s to say that’s not standard language in every qb contract? I’m asking, I’m not sure?

Of course we don't know the language of the contract related to the film study requirement, but I'm certain that there are details in it outlining the requirement and measurables related to compensation.

Here's an article on the contract. It does appear to be a requirement that is not usually in player contracts but it does say it requires him to watch film study in good faith so I'm not sure how that can be enforced unless he just flat out says he isn't going to study, Regardless, it's in his contract so someone is suggesting he studies film.

I'm thinking this stipulation was just always assumed in qb contracts and espn is just generating news.

Nobody is denying his talent. He's just never going to reach his full potential because he's a lazy entitled brat. You can get away with not working hard when your that talented at the high school and college level. But when you get to the NFL it's a different story.

In theory yes. Bidwills and King Roger could give two shits though. This is their game.

I think the team feels ok about it or they wouldn’t have guaranteed the $160 mil. Lol

You are talking about the Cardinals organization though. They don't exactly have a great track record of making great decisions. I think they just saw it as not having many other options other than Murray. They already spent a first round pick on Josh Rosen 4 years ago and he's not even on the team anymore.

I'm a Kyler Murray fan, but I'm not a fan of people who get paid big bucks getting by with as little work as possible. I see that every day and it pisses me off. Perhaps the Cards are circumventing another JaMarcus Russell story.

From the link:
"...a version of the story from Warren Sapp, who was a teammate of Russell's on the Oakland Raiders. The coaches would send Russell home with a game-plan DVD loaded with plays and ideas to study. Suspecting that their bonus-baby quarterback was skipping his homework, the coaches slipped in a blank DVD one day. When Russell returned, he reportedly said the game plan looked good to him."

But do you think about his haircut.

IMO Murray made it worse on him by talking about it in the media. Of course the media was going to pile on when he started talking about it.

He had a guilty conscience. The idiot came out and admitted in an interview with the New York Times last year that he doesn't watch much game film. Here's the article.

He has a brain hardwired to win? 22-23-1

I've said this before but Kyler Murray is spoiled and conceited. When GameDay was at the TX/OK game, the one we won, be told Maria Taylor that he thought he was the greatest hs in TX history.

And that says it all about Kyler Murray.

Well.........and extremely wealthy LOL. If the team agreed to take the language out of his contract it must not have been much of a pressing issue, I mean you don't give a guy $230 MIL/$160 GUARANTEED if you don't think he's a tremendous asset to your team, at least I wouldn't? I do agree that hairdo is pretty knappy though

Plenty of guys get paid big money in the NFL that are mediocre. QBs are just so hard to come by that if you got one that’s top 15 then pay him regardless. He already came out in an article in the New York Times last year and said he doesn’t watch much game film. He’s 22-23-1 as a starter. I don’t see him improving much from that down the road.
