Mayfield crying

He's a douchebag and his game isn't built for the NFL, but it's not a sham that he has a Heisman. He absolutely is an elite college football player. Colt didn't have a crowded field in 2009 he just didn't have the numbers. That was one of the more weaker Heisman finals in recent memory.

What record of Colt was Mayfield attempting to break while in the Rose Bowl anyone know?

Total wins? I thought that was broken by the Boise State guy though.

Not sure I just remember seeing Colts name and pic on the screen and hearing the announcer say something about Mayfield could break it in the Rose Bowl.

Has to be something with wins possibly just big 12 related. I know Colt set the record for most wins, but the Boise State guy broke that a few years ago. Maybe wins in a P5 program. I guess thats still Colt's.

Fans on the Schooner board are bashing M. Stoops. Is that fair?

Stoops is being bashed because OU fans expect that in game 14 of a season, especially the play offs, we should be able to tackle and stay in run gaps competently...neither happened last night

Mayfield, regardless of being douchey at times will still be drafted and get a guaranteed contract of probably more than quite a few on here, including me, will make in their entire earning lives. He will not care what any fans think nor will he care in the end if his pro career is a success. Why would anyone if the money is right?

I had a nimrod OK. St. Blowhard tell me at work that OU lost because of Mayfield. I reminded him that Mayfield wasn’t playing defense and giving up 17 point leads.

I don't disagree with this, but IMO, Mayfield won't amount to anything in the NFL. If he does, I will eat crow and tell you that you were right and I was wrong. I don't think I'll be doing that though.

MM you won’t be telling me that I was right because I’m not claiming that Mayfield will or won’t amount to anything in the NFL. I don’t even watch pro ball. All I’m saying is I believe he will get drafted and take the money,

He’ll probably throw away all his NFL money on hookers and blow, get paid by somebody to let them use his name on a crappy BBQ place, and spend the next 40 years showing up at the Heisman Trophy presentation to scream “Boomer Sooner” like a jack ass.

It could happen.

I'd gladly be 4th string bench warmer for league minimum. Pay me for the best seat in the house? SOLD!

He could go to Cleveland fight for the starting position and get Manziel old locker and make it a shrine then see his career start to Tumble like Manziel and tries to go to UT parties and gets kicked out

Exactly. He doesn’t have to go 1st round to accomplish any of that. I’m pretty sure short underachieving Chase Daniel hung in the league doing just that and may still be doing it?

Reading yours and DJ’s posts and seeing y’all team up and “liking” each other, makes it feel like I’m watching a bad episode of Naked and Afraid, millennial edition.

Mayfield is a jerk. Nobody can disagree with that. However....I dont get folks saying he wont make it in the NFL. Maybe he will maybe he wont, but there is no damned evidence that he will fail. He hits every checkmark for a successful NFL QB. Lets face it....Joe Theisman was as big or bigger a jerk and he had a good career with less talent.

I no longer watch or follow the NFL so I could care less one way or another, but I dont get why so many saying he wont make it. I can understand HOPING he busts out, but that is a different issue.

He's a "system QB", and system QB's rarely, if ever, find any success in the NFL. Also, running around is a big part of his game. He'll get killed in the NFL if he tries doing that. Mayfield is not a pocket type of passer. His type of game and skill set will not transfer to the NFL.

I wouldn’t even say he is coming from a “system”. The only system ou has run for the last 3 years is scramble drill. If there’s one thing that doesn’t work in the NFL, it’s that sh!t.

I agree about his scrambling that doesn't translate well to the NFL, but the whole "system" QB needs to go away. The NFL is full of "system" QBs. In fact every QB is a "system" QB. The "system" meaning "spread" like you are using it is outdated as well. As the NFL can't afford to not draft spread QBs unless the game evolves to not needing a QB anymore.

Name one "system" QB who has found success in the NFL.

If I'm Cleveland, I've got the 1st pick and what...4th pick also? I draft Baker #1 over all, put panic in the minds of the other franchises, and then auction off that 4th pick for about 4 years worth of 1st round picks.

Mayfield, regardless of being douchey at times...
At times? Some of the time? No, it's a feature of his program, not a bug. How many times was he on tv this season crying like a girl and blubbering an apology for his actions? Saying "that's not me" and "that's not how I was raised". Umm, after a while, well yeah that is you kid. Go talk so more trash to the opposing team, plant a flag, grab your crotch and do your gay windmill sprint some more. And then say I'm sorry again...

What system?

My point is a spread, zone read, air raid, type of offense. The only one that I can think of in my mind might be Marcus Mariota, but I think the jury is still out on him at this point. A good example, Texas Tech QB's have put up video game type of stats in college, but none of them have come close to doing anything in the NFL. Why? Pat Mahomes will have the opportunity to break the stereotype, and if there is any coach who can develop at QB like him, its Andy Reid.

So you want to know who has been successful that wasn't a drop back pocket passing QB?

Can you let me who the current QBs you consider successful are?

Bubba, my point is I don't recall any "system" QB having much success in the NFL. If I'm wrong, or missing someone, who would it be?
