If you want to watch a good western, checkout Netflix Original “Godless”. Filmed here in Santa Fe. Cinematography is fantastic. My daughter did background work on the picture.

Jeff Daniels is one of the great villains of modern TV — he’s so great,” Touré raves. “I love him. I am afraid of him, I’m afraid for [the women]. He’s this perfect immovable object coming right at this all-female town. I love that clash.”

Started it yesterday. Looks good. I'll give it a few more episodes.

Watching it. Lesbos. No white heroes except a bad who then decides to be good after stealing the stolen money from the other bad guys. Sheriff is depicted as a coward. I suspect the Indian kid who is originally afraid of horses and guns and the former buffalo soldiers and the bull dyke will be the heroes in the end.

Nice cinematography.

Sounds progressive. Does it have bumbling white dudes like in commercials? I LOVE that stuff! Can't wait to get started.

Well I wanted to watch something that wasn’t going to make me vomit, so today I watched 2 episodes. Very good so far. Story line is good the cinematography is freaking awesome. I recommend if some of y’all are looking for entertaining without a risk of a kick to the balls.

It would be nice if you gave us a clue as to what it's about.
Bunch of really bad guys pursue one of their gang who took the money they stole. He ends up at a ranch with a hottie. He helps her and they get together. The town is almost all women. The town whore and a bull dyke hook up. The town sheriff is blind and avoids confrontation.

I binged the entire series last night. No, I couldn't sleep.

I enjoyed it. Wasn't the greatest show of all time but it was entertaining.

It's a western mini-series. One season. Town loses all it's men to a mine accident. Jeff Daniels plays a evil preacher leading a horde of renegades that seem hell bent on killing everyone. And I mean everyone.

There are tough gun toting women, a sharp shooting anti-hero, not so good vs very evil, and it's all commercial free on Netflix.

What's not to like?

Watched 2 episodes so far and it’s really good. Jeff Daniels’ acting is really solid as the bad guy. The old guy from Law and Order made a good Marshall or whatever he was. Very believable cowboy.

I'm a huge fan of American Westerns. Especially those that dip at least a foot in the mud, towards depicting the world of the cowboys in at least a halfway realistic way.

Anybody out there watched "Godless" yet?
Does it make the cut, and is it worth the seven hours of time?

Or are the characters wearing makeup and hair product, wearing pressed clothing, and walking around on pretty, groomed streets?

Loved it. It was fantastic...

We finished it last night; on a scale of 1 to 10, a solid 10. Or to quote the late Messrs. Siskel and Ebert, “two thumbs up, WAY up!” If Jeff Daniels doesn’t get an Emmy for his role as the antagonist I will be surprised and disappointed. And I was not a fan before, but I am now an admirer of Michelle Dockery.

Great story, great cinematography, and a great score.

What was that western on AMC?

The one where it looked like nobody ever sweated or looked dirty and grimy?

It’s good. We are through 4 episodes.

Clothing is accurate and old (not pressed), streets aren’t groomed, etc.

To me, the worst ever in terms of these factors was Tombstone.

Good story. Great casting.
God awful costuming, makeup and art design.
No Chinese Laundry in southern Aizona in the late 1800's was going to keep Wyatt sparkling like Kurt was always so tailored and pressed.

If you're thinking of Hell On Wheels, you're mostly correct. But there were some times, in some episodes, where they applied the fake dust and grime rather heavily.

Finally a "realistic" Western. All the bad guys are white males. Almost all the towns males were killed in a mining disaster. The evil capitalist mining company comes in, intimidate the wives into signing over their mining right and take over the town. The town sheriff is going blind and avoids the bad guys. It's up to the ex buffalo soldiers, the bull dyke and a former member of the bad guys gang to fight the evil white men. Finally a realist. Western movie.

Saw the trailer and thought, 'another Hollywood feminist reconstruction of history' so I passed. Perhaps I have presumed too much and will give it a look. But the premise seems so inauthentic as too lose me. I'm going to guess that the men in it are either evil or lack any balls. I'l give it a try.
Nope, you pretty much got it.

The previews look good and also a fan of the western. If you want to see the best cable series of all time, watch DEADWOOD. 4 full seasons of genius.

That was a very good one.

I guess I need to go to the track!
That's' too bad because Daniels has been doing some great stuff and is a lot of fun to watch. Hollywood has become so predictable.
Who knew they would turn out to actually be both racist and mysoginist.

I loved it. I finished it three days ago and I’m still thinking about it.

There are some modern social issues shoe horned into the story, but I wasn’t distracted by them at all. There are also some “strong women” characters that Hollywood loves to put into stories, but I’d imagine the old West was filled with strong women. Life was damn hard back then and weak people didn’t make it far.

Very well done! Just disappointed there were only 7 episodes...
