Netflix series "Godless"

Interesting to think how the different distribution channels are impacting how the stories are being written. Airwaves sequentially accessed, via cable that has only recently made collections of its content available, and then via streaming collectively accessed right from its birth.

I have a friend that says "All change is bad" but this is an example of improvements, it is now possible for the sequential longer story lines that you and I prefer. I guess the better saying is "Things always change".

enjoyed it a lot, interesting story and cinematography etc is top notch

I'm a huge fan of American Westerns. Especially those that dip at least a foot in the mud, towards depicting the world of the cowboys in at least a halfway realistic way.

Anybody out there watched "Godless" yet?
Does it make the cut, and is it worth the seven hours of time?

Or are the characters wearing makeup and hair product, wearing pressed clothing, and walking around on pretty, groomed streets?

Right up there with "Unforgiven". Great western.

So far I like the show.
Like Frontier too. That is a much different story than typical hollywood.
Longmire new season is now out too. For some reason I like that show.
Vic looks good in those tight jeans. Wouldn’t you say so?

Been watching the show all week.
Been saving the finale for Friday night.
I'm pretty excited for the big showdown.
Even the wife has gotten into it. Which is rarefied air, for her to watch a Western.

Just cracked open a nice big ole bottle of one of them fancified Jester King brews.
Let's move em on out little doagies.

How does it stack up to deadwood?

The previews look good and also a fan of the western. If you want to see the best cable series of all time, watch DEADWOOD. 4 full seasons of genius.
Deadwood FTMFW. Damn that was in the top tier of shows HBO has ever produced.

Guess I'm too stupid to pick up on the PC sub-stories, or maybe I'm just not looking for them. Really enjoying the show.
The trailer and ad they have been running on network Tv for the show have really been highlighting the "town full of women" aspect for some reason. Probably to cash in on the "strong woman" trend, etc. It really doesn't paint an accurate picture of the story.

In reality, in the actual storyline of the plot, it's one badass smoking hot woman, one smoking hot whore, one smoking hot German paintress, one wisecrackin' Lesbian, and then a town full of widows.

And I thought it was just the storyline. I feel so stupid.

Why didn't Franks crew just torch the building the women were shooting from? Would have at least smoked them out.

Loved the show btw

It was built out of iron and bricks. They made a point of holding up in that bldg for that very reason.

They picked that building just because of that...it was brick and mortar.

I know a lot of shows and movies require the "willing suspension of disbelief" but...this show makes it hard. A town of only woman, a protagonist that seems weak, the strongest character is a woman with a Indian kid and a grand mother.

I want to get into this show, but...I just can't get past some of it.

There was a line in an earlier episode that detailed that the LA Belle Hotel had been built in all brick and iron. Torching the wooden walkways in front could have worked though.

Nonetheless it sure seems that Frank and the Goons did not exactly put together any sort of plan at all.

It was well done. You do have to suspend belief about a town full of only women who in less than 2 years acquire the skills -not to mention the strength to do things previously only done by men before.

I recall a scene where a woman was carrying a support beam up a ladder in a dress and bloomers to help other women build a building from scratch ( also in dresses) and thinking --Ok that's a bit much. The last episode with the guns as well.

Credit the production and writing that despite that it was still a good watch.
