OT: Las Vegas active shooter

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...at-happened-latest-news-updates-a7978821.html

Whether or not this woman actually knew that the shooter was going to strike or was just making angry threats, her statement is still symptomatic of what has happened in this country in the past several decades to the point there's enough fuel out there these explosions are only ever a spark away.

This past week a boy in my kids' school made a threat to shoot up the place. I had a guy I supervised at a job about 10 years ago make some offhand comments about shooting people in the head. Another guy brought a samurai sword to work once while he was drunk after getting fired and menaced two other employees.

It didn't use to be this way but there's a lot ugly in this country when people talk politics, economics, religion, or even sports?

Dude had the number 13 tattooed on his neck. To me, he appears to be an addicted gambler and perennial casino loser. Typical of many people who want easy riches but are scammed out of any money they have. He threw a tantrum and decided to kill as many people as possible.

He was broke but had an arsenal of guns?

Meh, I'm not seeing that angle but I've been wrong before.

I'm going with one of three options:
1. Mental disorder, off meds, angry at the world
2. Trump hater- otherwise why attack a redneck concert
3. ISIS convert-- least likely option. 64 year old white dudes don't get recruited to radical Islam.

Just saw he worked for a defense contractor at one time. Regular visitor to Vegas casinos according to brother

Have you heard about the lonesome loser? He's a loser but he still keeps on trying. Until he doesn't try and quits. I am surprised more of these guys who live in casinos don't do more of this kind of thing.

Good point nueces. Maybe he just went "captain crazy pants".

Let's just say you went and lost 100k+ and much more over the years in casinos.... How to get even? Well, Mandalay Bay is now out of business. The number of lawsuits being filed today... can you imagine?

Now hotels will have unbreakable glass? I mean they already don't have a balcony due to jumpers. POS's will find a way to kill people that aren't expecting it.

Some reports that he had full automatic rifles. Class III license really hard to get. Takes months to years. Unless he got them the outlaw way. Which I would think is even harder. Back in Bonnie and Clyde's day, they just looted National Guard armories. Unlike Orlando shooting, sounds like the police were prompt and efficient.

Cosmopolitan is the only one with balconies

Yeah there's a story behind that. Something to do with that hotel was intended to be condominiums supposedly. That's why when you get the rooms with a balcony, bad ass shower and tub they have stoves and a mini kitchen with cabinets for pots and pans.

I'm betting he used what's called a "bump stock". It's a legal modification that can be attached to certain semi-auto weapons to increase their rate of fire.

If you listen to the shots, there's not perfect uniformity. The shots speed up and slow down. Full auto weapons remain rythmatic in their firing.

So he liked gambling, appears to be independently well off, financially....so he rented a corner suite because he was in debt?

The pieces just aren't lining up.

Don't kid yourself. "Professional" gamblers are always in debt. Unless you're the house and can fix the game.

He could rent a suite as long as his credit card wasn't maxed out. Maybe he was broke and wanted revenge.

It's fairly easy to appear wealthy and be in complete shambles financially. Especially if you are going to throw in gambling in the mix.

If he is in fact a "pro gambler" his suite can be on the casino. That's possible but if he's broke they weren't going to make much off of him.

Maybe he watched the movie "Leaving Las Vegas" one too many times. The one with Nicholas Cage and Elizabeth Shu. It was terrible. There is really no way to make sense of people and their actions. I find that most people are able to keep themselves from doing what they imagine. Unfortunatley, we have a nation of aggrieved people who believe they are entitled to get even with his/her persecutor in any form or fashion they wish. This will only get worse as we become more relative in our morality.
