Gotta point out, the name is Victor Davis Hanson. Not David. I listen to his show pretty regularly and have purchased just about all of his history books. Currently reading "The End of Everything: How Wars Descend Into Annihilation", an excellent summary analysis of four civilizations who ceased to exist because they picked the wrong fight or failed to fight effectively. Documents the fall of Ancient Thebes and Carthage, Medieval Constantinople and in the modern era (for historians) the Aztec Empire.
