Some notes on players leaving, per Inside Texas.

-OL Connor Williams will not play in the bowl game and focus on going pro.

-LB Malik Jefferson, CB Holton Hill, S DeShon Elliott and DE Charles Omenihu want to go pro. Only Omenihu has a solid chance of returning.

-OL Jake McMillon, OL Terrell Cuney, OL Garrett Thomas and OL Alex Anderson will not use their final year of eligbility and move on.

-LB Edwin Freeman is contemplating retirement.

-they're hearing three likely to transfer are RB Chris Warren, WR Devin Duvernay and CB Donovan Duvernay.

-lastly, there is a player mentioned that would be "a very bad loss", but they can't publish the name right now.

I don't see it for Omenihu. I mean he's just borderline draftable to me at this point, and the coaches on his side of the ball seem to actually know what they are doing.

None of the other names are surprising. Don't see Warren transferring simply because he'd have to sit out a year to just play 1 more year, but I certainly don't doubt he's probably not happy.

Its just more proof of the kids we are getting. They don't want to work hard, they give minimal effort, they look like the just don't care if they win or lose. The whole environment at UT just seems toxic. Herman has a huge hill to climb.

If it is Boo, I hope he makes it to a team with a good O line. With the proper support around him I think he will make a great QB. I’d hate to see him leave.

Agree a little. I think a lot of it is just the nature of the beast. Anybody with an NFL future is probably leaving first chance they get. That has nothing to do with working hard as they've already put in the work that's why they have an NFL future.

Herman met with the juniors considering the NFL this morning, and CB Kris Boyd was one of them

We're just spinning our wheels.
There's a fine line between building an NFL factory and building a winning program.

Right now, we've done neither. Miami has, for years, cranked out NFL talent, even in their down years. Bama continues to have BOTH.

You forgot Michael Dickson leaving for the pro's.

that leaves us with what 6 or 7 oline? I hope herman at least tries to recruit the juniors to stay or this team could be historically bad.

Can you blame Boo? It seems the coaching staff, for all the bluster of best man plays, has set their minds on Sam. The style of offense they run will get Boo killed. Boo came in here and did his best for the team. I wish him the best and hope he lands somewhere he can showcase his talent.

Chris Warren reminds me of a rb we had a couple years back that also transferred due to lack of playing time, named Alex Ross. IIRC, Ross weighed around 220 but played like he was 185. He should have been punishing people as a runner but didn't, he absorbed the brunt of the punishment, but he was fast in the open field. He transferred to Missouri and got a little playing time I believe.

Yeah Shane is transferring. I was blasted by a couple people for bringing that up a couple weeks ago, but with Sam clearing being the guy, and 2 QBs in this class the writing has been on the wall for a bit. QBs that lose QB battles generally transfer.

We are at a crossroads for sure. If Fisher goes to atm then Herman looses what little momentum he has. He will no longer be the flavor of the week. This disastrous season could easily snowball into many more years of grief.

Oh well, it happens every year and to be honest I really don't care who leaves. So, you're a backup on a 50/50 team? Me thinks losing you might hurt less than keeping a scholly tied up.
Don't get me wrong, I do wish you well but nobody on our roster has proven to be irreplaceable except the punter.
Boo can be & I think will excell if given a serviceable o-line somewhere. We just aren't built for a prostyle qb.

Players in Houston crying like children when Tom leaves them, players in Austin scrambling to get away.

What's going on here?

Options is what I was told when I said the same thing. Our D1 players were recruited by multiple D1 schools and possibly the players at UH not so much.

Juniors that could get drafted into the NFL leaving early...normal who could blame them?

Warren- got passed up by two different true freshman and moved to FB/TE

3rd string 5th year OL's....Thomas and Anderson never have and never will play a significant snap of football at UT and Cunney never would have either if not for injuries to the first and second team players. These guys have all graduated, not surprised they wouldn't stick around for the grueling grind to be 2nd or 3rd teamers.

Giving the trend of QB transfers these days Shane shouldn't be that surprising. Although I think it would be premature because I don't think Sam is anywhere close to locking it up. This would be a good time to be on the receiving end of a QB transfer.

Based on current scholarship players and what appears to be some big movement about to occur, we could be down to 54-56 scholarship players by June

Christmas has been gone, lost in the woods.

This is what happens and will happen again if Herman is tossed in less the 5 years.

If players are lost in the woods why do we care if they stick around for the next coach. Assuming the next coach isn't lost in the woods himself which if that's the case any roster management is irrelevant anyway.

I saw that Connor will be the first O- Lineman to be drafted since 2008....if true...wow...

So you stole the Duvernays from Baylor and then run them out of town. Well thanks for nothing!

What is the story with Devin? He is fast as lightning, and had a couple of big plays last year as a true frosh - I really thought he would develop into a Christian Kirk gamebreaker type. No QB? Attitude? Homesick?
