Players that are done with UT.

I have always been a Herman fan and apologist, but I'd like to hear him defend this season honestly and how he can expect to convince great players to come to UT and to stay, when we couldn't find a way to beat 1 of: USC, OU, OSU, TCU, and we lost at home to a bad Tech team
We lost every one of those games except TCU on a bad decision by Sam. Period, end of story. Does that mean the entire program is a dumpster fire because Sam as a true freshman made too many mistakes. This team should have been 8-4 minimum. So poor coaching mistakes and poor QB mistakes cost us those games. Not having a serviceable kicker and OLine as well. Problem is no one wants to stick around long enough to turn this thing around. It's going to be up to this class in 2018 to be the one.

I don’t know if it’s fair to pen it all on Sam. Ok states defense gave up 70 to OU. We scored 10. That’s not all on Sam. Yes it was a bad throw that decided the game but shouldn’t of even been in that spot.

I’m old school! I think not playing is kinda what’s wrong with our society now. If it was me I’d play my ass off and if fate had it that I was injured and couldn’t play anymore then so be it. This me me me world sucks! You signed up for something so you ought to finish it!
I’d rather guys play, but I get it. There are millions of dollars on the line for guys like Williams... so I get why they would sit out. I think we need to be honest to. Outside of the playoff bowls. Maybe expand to the other 2 in the New Years 6 these bowl games really don’t mean a whole heck of a lot... If the hold up in expanding the playoffs is the bowl system by all means getbitbout ofvthe way.

He has another payday coming. Even if he stays, completes what is likely a liberal arts degree, he is taking substantial injury risk. LA degrees do not pay much.... If I were in his shoes, I might take precautions in the bowl game to ensure I don't get injured.

Just had this discussion with my Longhorn coworker. He feels the opposite but I'm all about commitment and accountability. 1 game left and since it's not the NC or a NY bowl they chose not to play. It's ok though I'm not a fan of the players but the team so I'll watch no matter it just sucks because those players make the team better but at least other players that wouldn't normally play get their chance.

Time to start the next rebuild. Give the seniors and upper classmen that have exhausted their eligibility the start but give younger players who are staying the bulk of the practice and playing time.

CFB bowl season = NFL Pro Bowl
Pretty much. I actually think when playoff expands it will be coaches as tgecdrivijg force. They are being hired to make the playoff and fired if they don’t. They are going to want it to be more open, and less about luck.

I have no idea. I'm just saying that a degree from Texas carries a lot more prestige than a degree from a Tulsa type of school. Just making a point in general.
Tulsa actually is a very good school..(outside of athletics) My Brother in Law has a petroleum engineering degree from there.. He is more than wealthy..

Yeah, we hear about injuries, OLine, OC, etc.. but Tech\OSU aren't exactly the Steel Curtain or the 85 Bears. And while defense has been good (since Charlie demoted Bedford actually), we also had 4th quarter leads USC\OU\Tech\OSU, but they promptly squandered momentum, especially against USC and OU.

Continually got blown out of games last year, lose multiple fourth quarter leads this year, let bad teams hang around in the game, decide to transfer because of reasons, and don't want to finish the season by playing in the bowl game. Sounds to me like there is a quitter mentality on this team.

my buddy played for herman at houston (swears by him). when he watches us play, he always says "all those cats and no dogs... they just need more dogs"

That's why I keep asking myself if this goes deeper than just the coaching staff. Basketball and baseball are the same way.

I think getting a long term AD in place will help. Mike Perrin has done an adiquate job keeping things goimg, but he was always going to be a short term solution... we need to get a long term AD in place that csn be the leader and have a long term vision for the entire program.

Some Texas players need to realize they are playing for the Name on the front of the jersey, not the back.Tommy nobis,Earl Campbell,Ricky williams, played their senior years for Texas and if any of these young men think they are better, think again.

If you are watching for the name on the front of the jersey, then what does it matter? It's not like someone with Texas on the front of their jersey won't be there to replace them.

some of the programs are just in a lull. i don't follow the baseball team enough to know what is going on there, but the basketball team looks much improved with the additions of bamba, ostenowski (probably wrong spelling) and coleman. those dudes are dogs-- they play to win the game. their presence has made others, like roach, better as well. just takes a few. probably just a few more in football. i think poona is a dog. deshon and malik too. unfortunately, we lose those guys but i think the bulk of the defense is that way. i also think shane is and humphrey. i like the young TE. and i'm not giving up on the o-line or toneil because they are young (for the most part). call me a sunshine pumper but we're not that far away, in my opinion.

Do you still look both ways when you cross the street?
