Players that are done with UT.

Does losing a player open up a scholarship for a recruit. We have not done that great with some of the players we have now.I would rather have players that want to play for the University of Texas not the ones that it is just about me,me,me.

As you all watch the games as I do, I just don't see Malik Jefferson being ready for the NFL at all. I'm not being selfish by wanting him to stay. He's just not ready and needs another year.
Malik could play on some special teams in the NFL until he is ready and he wants the MONEY.

He has a payday coming. Even if he stays, completes what is likely a liberal arts degree, he is taking substantial injury risk. LA degrees do not pay much.... If I were in his shoes, I might take precautions in the bowl game to ensure I don't get injured.

IMO Malik will get drafted in the late rounds if he comes out now, which don't pay all that well. Yes, he would risk a potential injury if he comes back next year, but if he can come back and be dominate for his senior year, it could drastically improve where he's taken, which would equate to a significant increase in pay vs. what he'd get coming out now.

Ya, I agree but what does his mom want?

Honestly Texas needs some of these defensive players to come back for their Sr season. If the offense doesn’t take a major step forward, and the defense has to break in new starters everywhere it could be a really rough year.

4-8 next year, I’m calling it

I saw that Connor will be the first O- Lineman to be drafted since 2008....if true...wow...

Can we rename DKR to Gundy-Patterson Memorial? Since 2010, Horns are 15-17 in BIg12 play in DKR (11-17 if you exclude Kansas). Meanwhile, TCU-OKlaSt are 8-0 in DKR since 2010.

So the gamble is to stay another year in college. The safe bet is to go NFL.

4-8 next season. I don’t think so if he’ll play some of the players that are committed. Oklahoma is playing a lot of freshman and redshirt freshman. It’s working alright for them. Move half the DB class to offense. He should fire a couple of coaches and forget about swinging hammers and carrying bats around. He quit blowing bubbles to his credit.

I have to ask myself and all of you this question-

Chris Warren says he's transferring. We know he has deficiencies, we know he has strengths. He has games as a freshman and sophomore where he rushed for over a hundred yards. The tech game in 2015 he went for 150 I believe.

What happened? Did he get sideways with Tom? Did he drag a$$ in practice? Did he have a crappy attitude? Look, he's not an NFL talent. He's too big. So why bounce to a new school knowing you won't be an NFL back, unless you think a school will feature like they would a future NFL back?

Why not stay here and improve and then prove you can play? Why not? Perhaps because he's become cross with the coaching staff. Kids leave schools to play more because they believe it will get them to the next level. He must know he won't make it to the next level as a running back....... So why leave?

I had a similar conversation with my son about this tonight. Warren should stick it out and stay at Texas for his senior season. Why sit out next year to only play one more year at another school? To be brutally honest, he's not an NFL RB. MAYBE he gets picked as a F/A and makes a team for a few years. Maybe. A degree from Texas is worth a LOT. That being said, and the reality of he won't have much, if any kind of NFL career, why transfer to a Tulsa, UH, New Mexico, Memphis type of program? Get your Texas degree and you're set for life. IMO, he shouldn't base what he does on a gamble of a very short and non-guaranteed chance in the NFL, when he has 30+ years to work in the real world.

I have always been a Herman fan and apologist, but I'd like to hear him defend this season honestly and how he can expect to convince great players to come to UT and to stay, when we couldn't find a way to beat 1 of: USC, OU, OSU, TCU, and we lost at home to a bad Tech team

UT suffers from some of it's own grandiose legend. We attract kids who think they are top of the food chain. They will never believe that they are not what was advertised or someone else from another school is better til their name is not called on draft day. A lot of these guys need some humbling and apparently they don't listen to coaching staffs. Our basketball team is the same. Those guys are so pridefull that their 20% shooting stats don't even humble them. They still shoot from wherever they want and rarely look for the open shot. Rick Barnes did not pit up with it but the players would just bail on him as Warren is doing to Herman. Too much selfish pride and not enough humility. IMO, we're going to have to stop selling early playing time as an attractor to recruits. Instead tell them hard work a patience is the way but this doesn't help a coach that has little time. In reality, coaches should get 4-5 years minimum. Herman needs to keep pulling in top 10 recruiting classes (top 5 are a bonus) because of the fickle nature of today's athlete. That's how he stays here.

Yes. Prior to this year, Herman’s strength was beating the good teams - especially when he wasn’t expected too.

However, he didn’t do that this year & he lost to 2 very bad teams - Maryland & Texas Tech.

You are correct. I am so happy to have my Texas degree.

The hospital Commander at Fort Bliss (El Paso) is a Texas alumnus. He signs my evaluation & I have an instant connection with him.

Warren may have 2 years left. He can get a medical red shirt in his next school because of his injury last year. It would seem that if you have options (NFL or other schools) then why put up with the BS. If Warren stays another year and gets limited playing time behind lesser talent (I'm looking at you Kyle Porter) his dream of playing in the NFL dies. Not sure of Warrens academic standing, but lets say it is stellar and he transfer to Rice or Tulane; nice degrees to have. Not to mention you will play against lesser talent and have better film and numbers to show scouts.
Bottom line is How can you tell a 21 year old kid to let his dream die? If this is his dream I wish him all the luck in the world. Thanks for being a Longhorn

A Texas degree is great as long as there is a career path tied to it. The degrees most of the players are attaining prolly don't unless it's high school coaching and even at that, it's not easy.

I know nothing about Warren specifically, but not all degrees at Texas are worth a lot. In fact the degrees that a lot of football players get aren't worth a lot and they certainly don't make you set for life, and getting a similar degree from another school isn't going to limit your work options to ditch digger. Regardless Warren may be close to graduating anyways then he can transfer without sitting as a graduate. Then he's set for life and gets a chance at the NFL, best of both worlds right?

*SPURS**Also, if I'm not mistaken Texas can backload up to 6 EE scholarships to the 2017 class totals. Since they only took 17 last year that would put them under the 25 for that year. This means Texas can take the 25 total this year (really giving them 31) if they wanted. I think it would work that way as long as they stay at or underneath the 50 in 2 years rule. I could be wrong, but this was similar to the 2015 class when they took 28.

Yep.

cant say I blame them. If they are in the top 2 rounds and they blow a knew in a insignificant bowl it would cost them some money.
