Portal help????

We just signed our first recruit out of the transfer portal.

Ryan Sanborn a punter from Stanford will be playing his 5th year at TX.

Seems to be a Cameron Dicker type can handle all 3 positions.

First we sign a transfer from Wesleyan college in Fort Worth and he played well.

Now we're bringing in someone from Stanford to be our next punter?

Man Isaac Pearson must really suck and he was the one who got the scholarship.

Lol

Denver Harris was one prospect that I thought TX would go after but it seems as if his immature attitude screwed that. I was also hoping Evan Stewart would be in the portal by now.

Yes, you would be in the minority. Whitt runs great routes, catches in traffic, is a playmaker, blocks well and gives everything. He is a dude I would hate to see go bye bye. We need him back
I don't think he's irreplaceable though. Then on top of that he's taking snaps away from some of the younger guys who could possibly have a higher ceiling than him. To me Whitt has already reached his ceiling.

Yeah...huge disagree here. I mean I like Red, BT and the incoming Cook but replacing a guy that can do all the things Whitt can do is not easy. He'd be a huge loss and someone would have to do some serious developing. It isn't Whitt's fault we tried to force the ball to X. Every time we used Whitt he made plays...and he is BY FAR the best blocking WR on the roster.

I agree, JWhitt has only played ONE full season since he single handedly won the state final game in HS. I think he still has another jump in performance level left.
Plus he can help mentor and lead these new ones by example. He's a great leader and has unreal work ethic. I'm down for his return

If he comes back you probably lose 2 to 3 guys to the portal. Possibly lose Niblett as well. Nothing against Jordan at all, he's a great player, but I feel like he's had his 4 years and it's time to give some of the young guys some reps. We can agree to disagree on this one.

And he’s already built up an NFL level body, age and experience compared to the aforementioned 19 yr olds.

Yes, I'm all about agree to disagree. I don't know if he makes that many reconsider esp when hes been hurt so much. I doubt one healthy season gets him drafted

I think we lose 1. Keep in mind that these guys will rotate in and get their time on the field. Whitt staying around won’t change that. I just think Whitt adds more value than what we could lose. I believe he’s a game changer.

I get what you're saying and it makes sense from your POV. However, there will be more Niblett's and what not every recruiting cycle. There will be guys in the transfer portal every year.

I'll always take a known commodity over an unknown.

I don't disagree with you on the fact he's a game changer. He's a really good player. But it's been shown that Sark doesn't like rotating guys in and out. He sticks with a 3 to 4 man rotation at most.

Also with Neyor and Worthy likely coming back. Then you have guys like Cook, Niblett, Thompson, and Red. Surely out of those 4 guys they can replace Jordan's output.

Concerning Neyor, will he be fully healthy by the start of next season?
That's the biggest question for me.

He tore it in August and full recovery is usually 10-12 months for an ACL so I would assume he should be ready by camp. I am no medical professional by any means though.

It really took Troy O. a long time to recover. But of course everybody has different recovery timelines. I think a big part of it is the rehab process and how hard you work at it.

It's always going to be better to field older more mature players like J Whitt. The younger guys think they can do it, but look at Ewers, he pretty much sucked for half the season. He was not ready. I think we should field older players. If the younger guys want to go elsewhere, that's fine. We can add them a few years later through the portal after we have beaten them a few times on the field.

Coaching held us back this year IMO. We should have won at least 10 games. Sark got too cute instead and tried to throw the ball too much instead of feeding Bijan and Roschon. And we did all of that with some younger players. Hopefully we build up some depth and don’t have to rely on young players as much.

In all honesty looking back we could have won 11-12 games. I like the way Sark has done it. Recruit like hell and utilize the portal to fill some needs year to year.

Are there exceptions, sure. Banks is probably ready for the NFL. He is all business. He's not out playing around like some dudes.

I guess he wasn't the player OK thought they signed.

Have you heard about the boy they signed from Portland, OR? Is he still

I also saw that Austin Stogner has transferred back to OK.

Wth is going on here? I know he gets another year because of covid.

What is that boy thinking.

Not sure what the number change does for him. I hope he sticks it out but I feel that he is doing a wait and see approach.

why change your number if you're leaving for a new team? Wouldn't you just do that when you join the new team?
