QB Battle

It is make or break for Strong regardless of how much you don't want to admit it. That's what's odd to me. I can promise you if Stoops goes on a 6-6 rampage for a couple of years I'll be leading the pack on wanting him gone. Actually it would take less than that. For some of you though, even through the 3 OC fiasco's, the 107th ranked defense deal, 5 mil per year etc. some of y'all act like you can't criticize anything about him. Perplexing really and really kind of being unrealistic don't you think?
Fans like to think it is, but he's fairly assured a 4th year based on contract alone and he's not going 6-6 or under! I'll wager if you would like.

Wrong yet again. He can win 7 or 8 this year and be back. 2017 is our year. Keep hope alive though, obsessed $ooner. We can smell your fear.

The problem with you dumb people is that you're not smart enough to realize you're dumb. It's a catch 22. Read. Learn.

"A growing body of psychology research shows that incompetence deprives people of the ability to recognize their own incompetence. To put it bluntly, dumb people are too dumb to know it..."

And don't ever bring up my wife again.
Fair enough. Although you're the one who outed her as an Aggie. Which I have a hard time believing. And I was expressing empathy for her.

But borders are borders.

Scholz know no borders. He's fair game. He should consider his posting style if he wants to set boundaries.

Do you think our line, if at full strength, is undersized?
Also, I wonder where Hudson is in all this? If linemen are dropping like flies he has to be getting some reps, I would think.

Full Strength would be Williams, Vahe, Shack, Perkins, Nickelson based on camp without any dings and they're not undersized, although McMillon out weighs Shack by 10 or more pounds. Our best chance is going to be with our starting five while the others get a chance to rotate in and develop throughout the season. The upgrades begin next year.

Hudson is getting reps at guard and is actually in the second tier at the moment. HE's about to get more reps.

We only have 4 Sr's starting, Perkins (RG), Haines (S), Bluiett (TE) and Boyette (DT). Crazy! Of those 4, at least one will lose his job before the season is over.

I didn't say different. If he comes out and lays an egg against ND and is trudging towards another 6-6'er, he gone. I would even go as far as saying if he squeeks out wins against clearly inferior teams and still looking like the team has no clue, he gone.

Not likely, 7 wins overall and I'll wager he's still here.

But, Kelly is in his 6th season and has had time to recruit a roster full of talent, get real dude. You spew BS about Strong and then pull this crap!
Have you looked at Brian Kelly's record since he's been there? There are no 6-6'rs and he showed promise from the get go.

Maybe so, Texas has a tremendous amount of money invested in him and have given him more leash than other coaches would receive usually.
In the new era of guaranteed contracts, Ties don't get cut so easily... Most coaches get at least four years, dude.

Apples and Oranges Bell, I'm not going to take this thread any further off course. There are no two things that line up other than both programs being blue bloods. Kelly had significant depth to start with and you love those recruiting rankings, it blew Charlies out of the water.

Well yes, within reason. Do you think if Texas fans weren't still filling the seats of DKR Charlie would still be around? Texas fans still buy tickets either way.

1 bill he's back even if it's only 7 wins total. Take the bet and move on.

No you acted like it was absurd I would compare the two. Kelly has been very competitive since he's been there, no need to recruit "his" guys etc. to have winning records. Look at Harbaugh too. Just pointing out some of you put too much emphasis on things other than the actually coaching that should be taking place.

Why do I need to bet on something I can't control? If he's back he's back? I clearly said if he's heading for another 6-6'er, he gone.

Sure, that's why there are so many commentators, etc.. that agree with my stance on the topic!

So they think Kelly and Harbaugh have overachieved? Or do they think Kelly and Harbaugh are somewhat earning the money they have been paid?

They agree the rosters were stacked in their favor and there wasn't a culture issue that needed to be changed within those programs! I will say, Kelly is a good coach and Harbaugh is won of my favorites, even with his antics.

Swoochele or bust! Let's get this gem back on track Sooner.

TexexSpur you squirm more than a whore in church but you're alright in my book.

Dozer, I gave up trying to understand you . Call it what you will, but you are the worst kind of passive aggressor. If Strong is as crappy as you hope he is why would you not want him to hang around the 40 for a loooong time. Instead, you get your panties all in a wad becuse we dont agree with what you think is brilliant analysis.Back in the day you used to add something to this board

The starting 5 OL for ND may end up being:

Williams, Hodges, McMillion, Perkins, Oakfor.

Oldhorn, I just know in the real world if I was to put out the product that Strong has the last 2 years, I'd be gone. It seems like he is treated differently? I guess it's principle for me. Really what has he done to earn 5mil/year? Do I think Stoops is worth 5 mil. per year either? No. That is ridiculous money.

I don't talk about family members. Just complete dumbasses who post on here.
He actually paid your wife a compliment, indirectly I might add. Get your panties out of a wad and stop crying about nonsense.

OK, so when I say your wife must be the most miserable woman in the world having to live with such a complete dumbass, I'm complimenting her? Got it. I feel very sorry for both yours and oldschool's wives then.

Exactly. Per me liking pancakes.

My bad for derailing it.

As of right now I am 99.9999999999% sure Swoopes takes the first snap.
I'm becoming increasingly convinced that Swoopes will take the first snaps, but the idea is to work Buchele in quickly, maybe even by the third drive. I still don't completely agree with this idea, because I fear that Swoopes will go three and out a couple of times and put Buchele in a hole. On the other hand, I've heard from coaches and such who think this is the prudent approach. So much emotion and anxiety for a true freshman in that environment. The game is sold out and the only game on national tv. You want him to at least see the game full speed before he takes a snap. The coaches might also be wanting to test the running game to see how much they need to lean on either of the QB's arm.

anymore news about this injury to Vahe? Scout saying severity unknown "probably could be a cause for concern"...which means they have no idea but would feel better if they had heard it was nothing

He is the guy and it will be his show when the timing is right, It's funny how caught up folks are getting over who they actual starter is (first snaps). The 2 deep gets released on Monday and it's going to read Swoopes or Buchele.

I just read through the thread, a lot went on since yesterday, my favorite being "I like pancakes," which made me laugh pretty hard.

Is there any updates on the OL injuries? I would guess they downplay them for now?

Honestly, I wouldn't expect any of them to start as of now. If they're in pads and practicing on Monday, they'll play.
