Recruiting Thread 2017

Hudson is the only one that I care to add outside of Devin Duvernay whom is an immediate impact player. If he heads to OU, it's a loss based on his potential... But, we just loaded up on linemen.

What's the chances Texas gets Hudson? I haven't heard anything.

Pretty good chance at some really big news dropping more than once between now and 11:59 pm CDT tomorrow.

Or not. :(

kinda reminds me of when Princess Kate was in the hospital about to have her baby. For hours and hours the street in front of the hospital was lined with reporters that had nothing better to do than interview each other.

Suchomel from OB predicting Hudson to Texas. Orangebloods is having good vibes in regards to Hudson this AM. Their source replied "Longhorns" last night.

Higdon from Scout feels good. The subscribers keep asking him the same question every 10 minutes and he os starting to get irritated about it. But he "likes his game." In other words, he feels that he is coming to Texas.

Now in the dead period so what ever will be has already been decided. Since Hudson was robbed of his "moment" by the crappy coach that sent in his original LOI (which he might not have even signed) he is either being cautious or simply reveling in the moment.

The kids Dad died so he doesnt have that guidance. Plus, he is now head of his family and has his sister to look out for. He is now/has been in a super tough spot.I feel bad for him Of course, I want him to go with the good guys, but whatever he decides, I will be 100% for him. Somehow, I look for great things from him way after his football playing days are over.

If Hudson never signed his LOI, then he could have avoided this whole process a long time ago. I don't mean to sound callous, but if I were to believe all the rumors surrounding Hudson's recruitment, I would come to the conclusion that he's a simpleton.

I kind of agree. Seems he would have pulled the trigger already. I hope to be wrong though.

We usually view it from a fan point of view, but I think its smart of the kid and his parents, to take their time. Just look at the situation with Baylor, it makes sense that he would take his time. I think people get to deep, when it comes to recruiting.

Hudson to likely make decision on Thursday. My understanding is that even during a dead period he can directly contact coaches as he wishes. Which 4 teams are in play here? Texas, OU, TAMU and ....?

He just stood the Ags up at the alter, I doubt they're a serious contender.

So who are the 4 Jason is referring to? Any other guesses? Baylor could be one of them as there had been rumors Phud might end up staying (I think this is unlikely).

Down to Texas and OU in my opinion with Texas holding the lead right now based on most reports.

Am I correct that coaches can have electronic contact with recruits during the dead period, but no face-to-face contact? If so, Charlie needs to blow up Patrick's phone. Can current players have face-to-face contact with recruits during the dead period? If so, Malik and Company need to get to Silsbee asap.

Sounds like Hudson is probably out now. Texas not willing to offer his sister a track scholarship while other schools are.

Eh that sounds like some blogger hedging. We have three sets of brothers, all were offer two to get one.

Using her personal bests (which were as a Junior/Sophomore) she would have ranked 180 in discus and 280 in shot put in the state. Certainly not enough to earn a track scholarship at a school like Texas that competes for national championships. I'd say, probably not enough to earn a scholarship anywhere really.

Of course it would be great for the Hudson family if she can get a scholarship out of this but I hope this doesn't keep Patrick from Texas.

Yeah, but Charlie doesn't control the track scholarships. They are much more scarce and are usually given out as partials. Our track program is attempting to be competitive at the highest level, can't afford to just take one for the team.

I don't know if I believe he couldn't get someone a track scholarship if he wanted to, or at least some form of financial aid. Regardless, I just think this sounds like eleventh hour over thinking. If he wants to play at Texas he will.

I agree horn. I think an athletic scholarship may be hard for her to come by but I'm sure all strings will be pulled on her behalf. Hopefully, Pat makes the right decision for him, either way that it goes.

Sorry, you're wrong. This has been an issue ever since we're been recruiting him.

I personally wouldn't mind if we had our non-revenue sports make concessions like this to help the big three sports (especially football) from time to time, but it doesn't work that way here.
