Recruiting Thread 2018

None of this matters if we do not get some quality OL....
The reality of a freshman OL coming in and having an impact are few and far between. I get what your saying, but most people forget we have 3 OL committed and signed. Need to find a juco or grad transfer to come in and compete for a starting job. A lot of those guys won't be coming in until May or throughout the summer tho.

Looks like Herman putting together the best class we have seen in a while. Now has to start putting up some results on the field to keep it up selling hope works for one class. Maybe two, after that not so much.

Kind of interesting that Bama only has a top 10 class considering they’ve been a lock for the top spot over the last decade.

Not a surprise but Cook is officially in. Interesting in his speech he said “for the next 3 years”. Time to be honest about what elite college football is about these days. The degree is the backup plan. The NFL is the primary goal for most of these kids.

Watching the LHN telecast of Signing Day and Acho is not a huge fan of the signing of Cameron Rising. He doesn't think that he fits with what we want to do.
then he doesnt know anything about Rising. Rising is a great athlete. faster than sam and a better runner.

After watching some film on him (granted it was highlights) it does appear to be a top notch athlete. Should give the staff some options with which way they want the offense to go. They are both athletes, but it appears that Rising is a better thrower while Thompson is more of a dynamic runner who also throws the ball well.

Has to be more than 15 we just had 16 players sign.

It'll be around 25-27 when all is said and done. We currently have 16 signees and 20 commits. We will look to add some more OL (Grandy, Jahmir Johnson) and DL (Bobby Brown, Moro Ojomo, Daniel Carson, Coutre Alexander, Joseph Ossai, Vernon Jackson), slot WR (Waddle?), and potentially a LB (White, Bonitto).

Wonder if Herman might leave a couple spots for a grand transfer or two. A couple expierenced OL or TE’s would be welcomed.

Herman also said that they probably won't push to fill all 31 available spots. Likely land around 27-28ish.

In Herman's press conference he said he plans to take about 8 more after the early signing period. Coburn and Ingram are two, so that leaves 6 to get that are not currently committed. Gotta think they will focus on OL, DL, and a slot guy.

Bobby Brown opening his recruitment again is interesting. I wonder if any of these guys on the fence saw what is coming to town and thought "that would be awesome dudes to play with"

Curious about how the great Texas recruiting class is based on two QBs, one of which OU wanted (Rising). You get the cream of the crop in Texas, just like most years since 1958. But why two QBs unless one can play WR? Even some OU fans want to see Kyler M. at WR. Seems like a waste given how much OLine and RB talent the Horns need.
ZERO depth in that room....The fact that Texas held on to 2 Blue chip QB's from OOS is badass!

Texas just signed 19 kids and they have room for up to 31 with 7 early enrollees..

All TH has to do from now until February is concentrate on Dline and maybe another OL.

Dude has attitude issues and i'm not that impressed with him, but he is a take.

I like this early signing period. I think it's a good balance of both benefitting the small schools and large.
